Anyone with the AHD Snow Plow Prep Group that would like to pm me the last eight of the vin#?

I would like to get a set of factory plow springs but can't use my vin for the look up cuz it doesn't have the AHD Snow Plow Prep Group.

OR

If someone knows the correct plow spring part number that would work too.

The springs on mine are 52113985AA Drivers side and 52113884AA Pass. side.

Thanks!

Pretty sure they are 52113988AA. Your current passenger side should be 52113984AA.

My 05 SLT QC short bed with AHD driver's side spring is 52113986AA and the passenger side is 52113985AA. Somewhere there was a parts listing with around 27 different springs for 2005 2500s and 3500s. Unfortunately they did not list what exact models and with what options the springs were used.

Brods, those are exactly what came stock on my 03. Dodge placed a heavier spring on the driver's side to compensate for the fuel tank and driver, that's what I was told by the counter parts person at Dishman Dodge.

I ordered the 988 springs and dealer installed them on my 07. 5

The 52113988AA are the heaviest springs dodge offers, I have heard some people say they ride to rough. I believe I would stay with a lighter spring and supplement them with "Timbrens"... . if I was going to atatch a snow plow to my truck.

The other thing I thought about was using the air adjustable shocks in the front but I think they are pretty spendy plus I didn't care for the way air bags worked in the rear when unloaded, I do have on board air.

I just like to keep it simple and hate to sacrifice ride too much. I think a more stiff spring though might add a little more stability when towing too. My Pin weight is 2K.

Anyone know if the Timbren's on front have a decent progressive rate?

I tried the AirCell's on the rear for towing and dang!! hit a bump and you know they are there. I can't help but think they are the same product with a different name.

Those are coming off soon and gonna try the Hellwig Pro Series for towing.

A very recent similar post over on Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum says the correct front springs for a 2008 MY are : 52113986AA... left & right sides.

Snow Plow Prep Springs - Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum

Greg
Isn't that even more interesting as brods has the same spring 52113986AA on the drivers side as one fella's 08 with Snow Plow Equipped and another fella's 3500 C&C but brods passenger side is 52113985AA.

Also that fella with the 2008 Ram 3/4 QC, Short Bed, 4X4 with the 52113986AA on both the left & right side says many people think his truck has a 1. 5" level kit, so do these spring numbers raise the front when unloaded?

Yes, my Snow Plow Prep equipped '07 sits slightly higher than our '04. 5 without. I don't know if it is a full 1. 5", but you can tell. If it ever quits snowing here and I can find somewhere level enough, I'll take a picture of them side by side.

If you do a google search on 52113986AA it gives a few threads, some going back to 2005. Still can't find any specs on the spring rates though.

Yo Hoot's webpage came up where he says:

Front Coil Springs

Plow package springs:

Right side spring P/N 52113985-AA - $101. 00

Left side spring P/N 52113986-AA - $104. 00

Tthe left side standard spring is same P/N as the plow pkg right side spring!

Standard springs: (P/N tags were still on the stock springs)

Right side spring P/N 52113984-AA

Left side spring P/N 52113985-AA
So JJPage's 03, Hoot's 04 and my 05 all have the same plow prep springs. Did they make any changes to the front weight distribution starting in 06 or 07?

:-laf:-laf Gets even better so... based on that info I only need one coil to upgrade to the AHD package. Simply move my left side spring over to the right and buy an 86AA for the left.

Cool, and also I would be interested to know if your front coils still have the part number tag if both left and right are the same number 52113986AA or if one is different??

Matt,

Where are you? I have the snow plow springs off my 05 if you want them. They have about 5000 miles on them before I switched to Lorenz 2" springs. Just sitting in my garage for the past 3 1/2 years.

Sweet. . will send you a pm, thanks!

The Timbrens are basically a big soft rubber bump stop, nothing progressive about them. Everyone I know that has them, swears by them. I have not had any personal experience with them. :)

Sure, I'll try and take a look today. It's a balmy 7 degrees here right now, so I may wait till it warms up a little this afternoon. :-laf

Technically I guess so; but do you really want to use 1 NEW spring with zero miles and zero months of use adjacent to a USED spring with x miles and y months of use ???? :-laf :-laf

Maybe I'm just too particular..... :-laf

Looked at the '07 tonight and both front springs do still have the tags on the. But, with the combination of the Ziebart and the road grime on them, I can't read them. I'll see if I can clean them up a little at some point and see what the #'s are.

Not ideal I suppose but our local body shop does that often on front end accidents and we set the alignments for them, if the ride height is good left to right it shouldn't be an issue but looks like sid325 has a pair for me and since they both have to come out I will change them both.
