You mean with the 68rfe ? if so best so far is 18-19 mpg running 75+ empty

How many miles are on the truck? Have you done anything to it? Mine doesn't have many miles on it yet and on my only highway trip so far I drove around 78 mph and got about 16. 5 mpg. I am hoping it will improve to your numbers as it gets broken in.

I just took mine on small 100 mile highway trip. This to see if I could duplicate your MPG. I set the crusie on 65 mph and the counlse stated that it avg 16. 5 mpg and the return trip I went the speed limit of 70MPh and it dropped to 16. MPG.

Could explain how you managed those numbers and what truck do you have?

Those who are complaining about the fuel economy numbers of the 6. 7 should visit some of the Ford forums and see how the 6. 4 drinks fuel.

Not complaining just trying to get feel for the mpg of the trucks and if someone states that they are getting xx more than the rest of us, how is he/she doing it.

I did not buy this truck for mpg but it is a bonus if we can figure out how to improve it some.

I do about 10 min freeway every day and do some city driving. . Cold here in Salt Lake City, and I am able to get it up to around 16 mpg if I watch it. . I do 65 on the freeway to keep it close to 1500 rpm.

I have had it around 19 mpg freeway only with 4000 miles on it. . so not broke in. . now have 5600 miles on it and can see a slight improvement. . I hand calc every tank and so far, just like my old 01, the overhead is a little higher than actual.

MPG update

Took it on a 200 mile round trip. Still under 2k on the OD. First part of the trip set it on 70MPh and it avg 16. 8 MPG, on the return trip set it on 75 MPh and it averaged 15. 1 MPG.

As I have seem the difference between 70 and 75 Mph is a full 1 gallon. Plus your 98 does not have the smog control stuff so that would be another difference.

thank you

ok I will let you know how this one does after it breaks in. I'm getting ready to take trip up to Maine to drop some equipment off which shouild give it a good test haul with about 16K total weight.
