A few years ago I bought a PML transmission pan for my truck. About a year ago I had some work done on the transmission by a shop highly recommended to me. I recently crawled under the truck to change the fluid and filter and found one of the pan bolts was missing. These are socket head cap screws and I was unable to find any locally. I didn’t want to buy a package of 100 from Grainger or some other supplier, so I wrote PML about my problem. I asked if they could sell me one bolt. PML offered to send me one and asked if one was all I needed. I said I needed one, but since they are so hard to find I wouldn’t mind getting two so I would have a spare for the future. PML sent me two bolts gratis. A transmission pan is not a high tech item and the PML is not special. I think it serves me as well and any other could and it was less expensive than some others. But the customer support is outstanding and I wanted to pass this along.

That's great to hear. It should be 5/16-18 for the bolt size for future referance.

The bolts are 5/16-18 x 1". If you use the stock overmolded trans gasket (which is pretty thick), the 1" long bolts only engage approx 7/16" worth of threads. The design guide for a threaded alum hole (trans case) is 2x bolt diameter or 5/8"

Be careful torquing the trans pan bolts. Torque spec from PML and MH is 12 to 16 ft-lbs and I went to 16 ft-lbs and the very last bolt stripped the alum threads... very bad feeling when this occurs...

I replaced with 5/16-18 x 1. 25" long SS bolts and everything worked out...

I agree, the people at PML are very customer friendly. I requested additional copper sealing rings and received them free of charge with a nice note.

Yep, same length I used when I put my Mag-Hytec DD on. I used stainless hex bolts.
