Where I live, the A/C never is used with out recirculation. 100F and high humidity are too much for any air conditioner to overcome without it. The air at the registers is 45 in the mornings but closer to 65-70 in the afternoons now. That's a pretty good split (30 degrees) from 80-100+ outside temperature. Even though I bought the new 50. 00 updated recirculation box, I'm considering cheaping (wimping)#@$%! out at least for a while and just drop the glove box, cut through the recirculation vent and glue shut the old door on the fresh air vent. I can always drop the dash later and put the newer box on... ... heck I even looked at the vents on the top of the firewall under the wipers :-laf

I've read about going through the fan motor hole and installing the new door, but that looks like an invitation to do it again in my opinion.

Either way, there might be pictures...

I live about 60 miles to the west of you, so I understand what you mean by the temperatures. But I have to wonder if your problem goes beyond the recirc door. If I am driving at highway speeds I'm still getting 42* out of the right drivers side vent, day or night on fresh air. If I stop at an intersection it jumps to 50*+. But on recirc I am getting 40* from the vent day or night, moving or sitting. The above is true for all fan setting except high, which passes the air too quickly over the coils. On the bright side, in a few weeks when the temperatures jump to 105*+ you won't have to worry about the humidity any more... .

Google: heatertreater.com

Lot's of info.
thanks I already did but I'm not going that route. I have about 20 posts->PDF files that I've scoured over and the 05 is a bit different. The metal parts they use seem to me to be a good, but incomplete solution to a original design problem that is probably not practical to overcome.

But you ARE correct about a lot of good information and even videos.

You know, I watched the videos on Heatertreater.net that explain the whole sequence BUT! right when he gets to actually showing the installation of the new recirc door and motor, he passes right over it and shows it working! WTH? That's the whole reason I was watching it! Anyone else?

My numbers were with the fan on full, if I cut the speed down and increase the dwell time over the coil, I get your numbers.

yeah I noticed that as well as the fact he wants you to cut through the screen when you could use the fan hole.

There's a TON of good information on this problem but it is scattered over about 5 web sites and some is not relevant to each model year...

Ended up being easier just to drop the dash and go with the new box. Hardest part was disconnecting the old box's power connection. Dodge and their POS connector locks!
