Where I live, the A/C never is used with out recirculation. 100F and high humidity are too much for any air conditioner to overcome without it. The air at the registers is 45 in the mornings but closer to 65-70 in the afternoons now. That's a pretty good split (30 degrees) from 80-100+ outside temperature. Even though I bought the new 50. 00 updated recirculation box, I'm considering cheaping (wimping)#@$%! out at least for a while and just drop the glove box, cut through the recirculation vent and glue shut the old door on the fresh air vent. I can always drop the dash later and put the newer box on... ... heck I even looked at the vents on the top of the firewall under the wipers :-laf 
I've read about going through the fan motor hole and installing the new door, but that looks like an invitation to do it again in my opinion.
