Ya know, i really dont expect this thing to perform like my pick-up, I KNOW you cant compare the two. With that being said, I would expect it to perform atleast equal to the service truck that I got out of! I am in no way a Chevy or Duramax fan, but this 2011 Ford does NOT respond anywhere NEAR as well as the 03 Chevy I got out of.
One would think that with the advantage of 7+ years of refinement, the Ford would offer something better than the D-Max, right now, the only advantage is that the d-max had to have to injectors replaced at 7500 miles (typical LB7 engine)
Power, driveability, fuel economy... No, No, and NO...
I feel like I am pretty much comparing apples to apples due to the fact that both trucks run the same tires and wheels (so final drive gearing should be the same) both have 4:88 gearing, the Ford has a 6 sp. auto vs. the old Ally 5 speed auto, I think my d-max was 285-290 hp, the new 6. 7 is 300 hp.
The tools are the same, the bed is lighter than the serice bed on the old truck, although this should balance in the end due to hydraulics on this truck.
This truck as delivered to me weighed in at 15600 lbs. The C4500s were over weight when empty at 16500. . Less tools (due to les space) same driver... . the Ford is just losing!!!
No doubt, in every other way, handling, ride comfort, options, etc... the Ford wins, but this engine trans. package leaves alot to be desired!!!.
