Third time's a charm? Installed studs this time, and no oil leak so far, though it looks like I need new banjo bolt washers...

Funny thing... I was thinking of taking it to the dealer to have the gaskets replaced on the lift pump and fuel pre-heater. My local dealer wanted $550 plus $5. 95 for each gasket. That only slightly annoyed me.

So I found gaskets at another dealer a ways up the road. He asked $3. 80 for each gasket and said he'd do the replacement for $175. I bought the gaskets from him and went home and did the job myself. This time I didn't mess up the gaskets.

$550? S P E L L S R I P O F F

Well keep this in mind. We were all " Not Mechanics " at one point . It is a live and learn type of thing. Hell one time i changed my mothers oil in her station wagon . The next night her meeting ran late and all i heard from dad ( who could not change a tire) was "Are you sure you did it right , she could be stuck on a road somewhere". Each mistake is a test in the learning process.

Don't they sell a bracket to block that off and remove the entire unit that's in your hand?

The only time you install a block off plate is if you run an electric fuel pump of some sorts. When you have the OEM fuel pump you must have that plate installed behind the pump for the fuel pump push rod to pump off the camshaft.
