I bought one of the first 03 Ford Lariat 2500 with the worthless 6. 0 that I also could not sell. It was a full option truck, looked like new with 36Kmi. but as soon as I said 6. 0 eng. (They had 7. 3s then switched to 6. 0s 2nd half of year. ) they lost all interest.
I'd had so much trouble with it (I'll not get into the details. )so I was trying to sell it before the warranty ran out, but no luck. I already new too much about that eng. by that time, and I was not about to lie about it to a potential buyer.
After trying to sell it for over a year I decided I would keep it and install a Cummins. After doing some research and talking to De-Stroked etc. , I started shopping for a good used engine. I found one on Ebay, but just before I made the deal I got a phone call from a local Ford mechanic who had heard about my truck on a Ford diesel forum. He came over, drove it and said he would take it for the right price. He said he new all about the 6. 0 problems and his specialty was making good engines out of bad ones. ?? We negotiated a price, and the next day he came over and picked it up.
I paid big bucks for that truck and ended up getting just over 1/3 of what I paid for it. But believe me, I was very glad to get that.
I really liked everything about that truck except the engine, and for a while I thought I had no choice but to swap in a Cummins.
Within a week bought a new 2006 Cummins powered 2500 Q-cab Laramie with the G-56. It was like the ending of a bad dream.
After 3 years and 75K trouble free miles on the 06 I found and bought a very nice 98 12V low mi. dually (Currently in my signature).
I eventually sold my 06 to a friend. It's his first diesel and he loves it.

RHestand,

Thank you for telling your own personal sad Sick. Ohh story. Some folks that like Furds get real angry with me for telling them the truth about Sick. Ohhs and think I'm making up the stories I have told.

Several years ago I told some of the Furd Sick. Ohh stories I had personal knowledge of on the NuWa HitchHiker website. Several of the loyal Furd owners and in particular one Furd loyalist who owned a 2004 or 2005 Furd King Ranch dually and loved it became very angry and defensive with me. I quit posting and cancelled my membership on that forum.

About two years later the same guy who had been so angry showed up on a MDT forum asking about IH MDTs. I had to give him credit for honesty. He posted on the TDR forum that he learned that I was right. Now he owns a Freightliner and tells the Furd lovers their trucks will fail just like his did. They don't like hearing it any more than he did.

We were at our RV group's Christmas rally this weekend. Parked next to us was one of our members who had a 2011 Ford with the new 6. 7L Ford-designed diesel. I asked him what happened to his 6. 0L? He said that it had gotten water in the oil (and oil in the water) for the 3rd time - head gaskets. He managed to limp into his Ford dealer and got what he said was a good deal on the 6. 7L, so he says that he's giving Ford its last chance as far as he's concerned, and he's a diehard Ford lover.

Some ppl will never learn about the 6. 0hno or the 6. 4gettable. The new Fword 6. 7 looks very promising for Fword and good for them. Well... until GM smacked them around with the Denali vs. F450 test and Chevy vs. F350 test. The new Fwords are butt ugly IMO to top it all off. That front end is hideous.

Totally agree with the butt ugly and the hideous front end.

I just got home this afternoon from a quick trip to Beckley, WV and back to pull a trailer back for my son-in-law and daughter. I saw two separate broke down Furd Sick. Ohhs on the interstates during the trip. One was on a hook, the other was being pulled by a Chevy.

I always chuckle privately when I see them.

HB,

I told you those mountain Interstates were hard on 6. 0's... ... ... you see it all the time. Beckley and points further south and west is exactly where we all go on our atv trips a few times a year. We always stop at the Cracker Barrel there off of I-77. Beckley is a great place to visit and the locals are very nice!!

Alan,

That's exactly right. Some of the folks who own and swear by their Sick. Ohhs get away with owning one for years and think they are great until they put a heavy trailer on and begin climbing those steep grades with their right foot to the floor.

Those WV hills quickly separate the truck engines from the pretenders.

The Beckley, WV area is a beautiful region. My grandson lives there.

If you're a four wheeler you might even know my grandson. His name is Jerime Dudding, he's not quite 30. He is sponsored by Can-Am to race Can-Am four wheelers pretty seriously.
