Can't tell is truck is stock or lifted

My 2001 is due next month and I already have the DMV notice to smog. I've read everything I could on it. :mad:#@$%!:{

I have left my Edge comp turned off for a few months now and I know I'll have to remove it for testing. Figured if I have it off for several hundred miles, it may not show up as something messing with the computer when they read it. My 80 HP injectors may pass (I won't tell them I have them). The hybrid turbo looks stock. My FASS is acceptable along with my air intake and exhaust. I'm non EGR and CAT from the factory.

My friend just purchased a 99 2500 CTD and the seller went to have it smogged in Upland, CA. It took 15 minutes, the guy looked under the hood, no snap test, and didn't hook it up to the reader. With a Banks stinger kit installed, he passed.

Anyone else test yet?

My old 2001 had to be tested every other year here in Utah. . They do it on a Dyno and do 2 different runs. .

I had bigger injectors, a AFE Filter, Edge EZ and a Blue chip Fuel box. Also had a Hybrid Turbo where the compressor was bigger. . Truck was making 310 hp on the dyno from past may madness, . .

Always went to the smog station with every thing on and turned on. . and has always passed. . The 2001 truck has higher standards than new trucks so even with all the power equipment on, it still passed.

passed my test today. tech did thorough visual looking over wiring harness under hood and under the dash. snap test was clean, no smoke at all for any of the three. tech did ask me what i knew was on the truck as far as mods since "there are so many".

I added:

AFE filter/torque tube

Westech FP gauge

On when I bought it:

Bank High Ram

Banks Exhaust brake

Banks DynaFact Boost/Pyro (may or may not be hooked up to a box, have not found one yet as I bought used but have not looked too hard)

Banks Big Head Wastegate

Banks 4" Exhaust

US Gear Dual Range Underdrive

ATS manifold

took all of 25 minutes between my truck and another gasser he was working on.

Some testors are very careful others don't seem to know what is required so rather than looking stupid they pass everybody. Bring your supporting documents with you just in case they disagree what is ok. Even the juice w/attitude is ok right now since they have applied for an eo sticker

I had mine tested on Thursday.

I passed without any questions.

My sig shows all the mods i have.

How often does this have too be done?Every year or year and a half. I re-newed at AAA the manager told me it was stricktly a money grab by state of California! As if we did'nt know!

Every other year in CA, and upon purchasing a diesel vehicle...

UNLESS you happen to live and register your truck in a county that does NOT require bi-annual smog checks, then it is only on the purchase of the vehicle.

Not really sure how it could be a money grab, only in that it is private smog check and/or private repair shops that get to charge for the certificate. Though maybe the state gets part of that, but I don't know for sure ????

Nickaru Post your findings as I'm in the Antelope valley as well and will be due for a test in May. So I'm in question of where to take my truck as well.

You might want to get a hold of Diesellady on Cummins forum. She has a shop in Lancaster and can probably steer you to a smog shop
