Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) slow boost presure

have a 97 3500 with 5 speed 3. 55 gears the boost seems not to start to build till reach about 1800 rpm on this truck the waste gate is run from the fuel pressure and not the turbo like my 96 is and this truck is just plain out slugish untill u get it wound up to higher rpm

If your engine is still stock the wastegate is run from air pressure from the AFC housing. If you are saying you don't get RAPID acceleration until about 1800 rpm, that sounds normal to me. Have you adjusted the starwheel forward?

yes its still stock and iv adjusted the wheel but its just real slugish im going to put a boost gauge on it this weekend to see what im getting weve got 6 of these trucks but this one is very slugish and its the only one the wastegate is run from the afc housing

Eh?? Are you saying the AFC is hooked to the turbo waste gate?



That would be a problem as the AFC needs boost to work correctly.

The wastegate hose is T-ed from the boost hose that goes to the AFC on a '97.
