So while pulling my cam out, I managed to nick my front cam bushing when the cam gear hit my rad core support and bounced back. ;)

How does one change this and does this look too bad to use?

I would not use that bearing. If you can see any Silver through the copper there is a good chance that the copper coat will start to peel off and that is the start of a SPUN bearing. Then you will need a new block or block repair. Replacing one bearing will not hurt anything as long as the other bearings are good. You can get the right size cam bearing driver and drive it in and then egg shape the bearing and pull it out. Then drive a new bearing in. Align honeing is normally only done to the block.

I thought that the B series only had a front cam bushing. I can get you the number for the snap-on bushing driver that fits it if you want it.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Yes, I have a new bearing now. Was not comfortable leaving it. Not worth the risk of it going down the road.

Yes, there is only one bushing. And even if there was more, the motor only has 10K miles on it so I doubt the others would really be worn!

Sure, snap on part number would be good! I did check the service manual and says a regular universal bushing driver will work.

Wonder if I need a specific one??

make shure to line up the oil holes! a trick i learned at cummins was to paint a line on the outside of the bearing with the oil hole so when you are driving it in you still know the orientation of said oil hole

Thanks guys!

New bushing is in. Oil holes aligned. Cam back in too. Motor half back together! :)<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Alright!!!!

I'm looking forward to the video of it running on Monday!!! :)
