I installed a Brite Box on my old '01 and it worked perfectly. About a year after purchasing my current truck I then bought the appropriate BB for it. Not too long after installing it that I started having issues. It would burn out the drivers side headlamp.

I went through 4 or 5 lamps in just a couple of months. I called the manufacturer and inquired about the issue. I told them I would remove the BB to see if the problem still persisted. I did take it out and the problem went away. I left it out as I liked not having to change out the lamps every few weeks but never followed up with the maker.

When changing the lamp one time I snapped the tabs on the BB plug end. I thought that water may have been entering the connection causing the blown lamps. When I put the BB back in today I used electrical tape around the plug connectors to continue my diagnosis hoping that this may solve the issue. Well...

... now the BB does not function at all. The HI/ LOW beams react as if the BB was not in place. I am little mad about this as I paid good money back then (yes, it is my own fault for not following up within an acceptable warranty period. )

Yes, the grounds are securely attached to the chassis, but I could make new pigtail to make sure of this connection. Other than grounding I cannot imagine what else it could be as it is a very straight forward installation.

I tried to do a search to get the mfgrs. contact information again but I cannot find a maker... only suppliers. I am assuming they are still in bidness as I see that Geno's still sells them.

Any info on where to contact them or any ideas on what my problem is would be appreciated.

My dad bought a BB for his 06 3 years ago, and is on his 2nd box and it has failed as well. The first one just quit working, and the 2nd one shorted, didn't blow the fuse, melted part of the box and drained his batteries.

I put one in my 05 last November, no issues yet.

I have put one on my 06, 01, my Dad's '00 Powerstroke and an '06 Jeep Liberty CRD. All have, thus far, worked flawlessly. But remember, they burn both filaments at the same time and the bulbs really aren't designed to do that.

I've had 3 brite boxes in my '06 and 3 TIPM's that the dealer blames the BB on. Don't have the BB hooked up now, so we'll see if the TIPM problems go away. Have BB on my '92 and only had 1 water related problem that was my fault.

I love it. Oo.

If I had a nickel for every time somebody linked to my mod. , I'd have... .

well, :confused:

..... prolly 'bout 30 cents. :{

:-laf:-laf... I honestly don't know why more people don't do this... it is an AWESOME mod and FREE to boot, unless you decide to buy the extra multifunction switch for $70, but you only have to do that if you want to do the bulk of the mod without a few hours down time on your truck.
If you don't mind disabling the truck for several hours, no need to buy the extra switch to mod first. Just take out the old one, do the mod, and slide it back in !!
