egr unplugged

Anyone here unplug there's? Any repercussions from it? Does it affect the turbo or EB?

Unplugged it this morning and drove 20 miles on the highway to work. I cel on, engine seems quieterand the pedal seems a hair less responsive.

I ran with mine unplugged for probably 15,000 miles before deleting everything. Seems to cut down on regens and certainly less soot in the engine.

I ran with the EGR un-plugged for 5,000 miles until I deleted and installed a SMarty.

Truck ran fine and and had no issues with the engine. The tuck never went into Limp mode, no reason. A CEL was present but that is to be expected. Plug the EGR in and drive for a couple of days before visiting a dealer. This will removed the CEL issue in the ECM.

When you delete the egr and remove the pipe, what is that on the right side of the pipe with the plug attached to it? When that's unplugged will that throw another code?

Unplugged egr this morning and have driven about 30 miles. 3-4mpg increase instantly. Truck is quieter and feels smoother. CEL is lit

Mine is also unplugged and runs stronger w/ mileage up. A lot more freash air coming in, and less regens. The light does come on, but after 2-5 cold start ups it goes out, and just leaves a soft code if the dealer tech hooks up. It's free mod! :-laf

EGR unplugged and I just completed a 400 mile run with mostly interstate and about 15% stop n go and the overhead ended up reading 20. 2 mpg. I would believe it cause I got home without running out of fuel too! A free mod that I like and the DPF is still hooked up and killing soot particles! Nice! The CEL light bugs me though, where's the black tape?

Two weeks on with EGR unplugged. The engine is quieter and I'm averaging about 15-16 around town. Just pulled a 14' utility trailer to and from Dallas and got 15 avg. Noticing a lot more miles out the tank and the engine seems smoother and pulls stronger.



I covered up the annoying CEL with a wallet sized photo of my daughter I happened to have handy in my wallet--much nicer to look at than electrical tape.



Seriously considering full EGR and DPF delete down the road once the truck gets over 100K on it and warranty is up.

Same here, the CEL lights up after engine start and stays on, but will not give a DTC if you try the key on/off trick.

The CEL will stay on as long as the EGR is un-plugged. The ECM thinks there is something wrong with the EGR valve and is informing you thru the CEL, that the engine needs to be checked. There will be an event registered in the ECM memory that the EGR system is not working.

I know the dealer clean the entire EGR system once on my truck. When I had my oil changed. I had plugged in the EGR valve and cycled the key on and off three times thinking that the event would be erased from memory. I did this so the dealer would not service the EGR since it was un-plugged.

When you plug the EGR back in, then it will reset after a few start cycles. Not while it's unplugged

I think it it should be erased after three or four key starts and the engine running. Although mine registered that that the EGR had an issue, I do not know if I had waited for the three or four starts, to totally easers the memory. The dealer did not care all he did was cleaned the EGR and intake grid heaters.

I then deleted because the soot has been removed and why let it build up some more.

Got 17MPG on a 296 mile trip from Greenville SC to Franklin NC and back. . mtn driving. Looking forward to an interstate hwy trip to see how it has improved that mileage.
