Hello to everyone. I hope you will have a good Fourth of July. Over here, not happening... we lost to the brits

Well... I was working on the truck, wiring is finished, but waiting for the headlights. Decided to check for errors, and found P0230, and P0234 ( Turbo Boost Limit Exceeded). Now since I had the Battery disconnected for a couple of hours to fix the 'rig and rust on the terminals and hold-downs, I figure that the error is current, not an artifact.

Info 1: The previous owner replaced the injection pump... when I asked about the lift pump, he had no idea. I believe him, since when I spoke about U-joints, he did not know what they were either.

Question:

Which is better? the Air dog direct replacement pump, or the Fass direct replacement pump? Air dog appears to have a bigger motor, and the video sure was entertaining, but it would be nice to know for sure.

Thanks from Germany... Jonathan

First off, what are you getting for fuel pressure at the VP?

P0230 Transfer Pump (Lift Pump) Circuit
Out of Range
Problem detected in fuel transfer pump circuits.

Check the wiring/connection to the transfer pump. Typically when the transfer pump goes bad, they don't set a code.

The transfer pump is powered directly through the ECM, so there is not much to check other than the short wiring and if the pump is even running.

Pressure, what pressure?

Great. No warning codes. Kind of funny about the wire, as there is what looks suspiciously like a lift-pump harness in the glove-box.

I am going to the shop tonight and will see if they have a gauge I can rig on there to check. Pump runs, but I wonder if the codes were artifacts. I spoke with my brother last night, and he told me that no matter how long I have the batteries disconnected, the errors are saved... so more info is needed.

As a precaution, I ordered a FASS pump, as well as a gauge set from Glowshift. It will take a while for the stuff to get here, probably next week. Still waiting on the DynoMax 4" stainless to arrive, as well as the headlights. Already replaced the tie-rods, idler and pitmann. Tonight the ball-joints as well as the Centre support bearing... and U-joints. Thanks again, and happy Fourth to all.

Hang onto that harness, makes a great jumper wire if you need to hotwire your transfer pump, and also makes for a nice clean after market transfer pump wiring instead of cutting up the OEM harness.

Well, to update... I checked the pressure with a mechanical gauge... long story. Now I have a Glow-shift gauge set installed. Strange though, at Idle, it shows around 10-12 lbs. Lowest at WOT has been around seven. But jeepers, it sure fluctuates a lot. Now for the strange part. At the end of a 75 mile run, the gauge jumped from 10 to 15#, and then returned to 10#. This happened yesterday, but today I found the the crimps on the 'solderless' terminal had failed. I need to check if the other terminal failed, but I doubt it... strange. A FASS pump is sitting at the AAFB, I junst need to pick it up... still waiting on the dash and front hub...
