On my 2500 dually, I have installed Tireman's , mandrel bent valve stems (not extentions).

Tireman's rotate theory, . . Never rotate the back DRW tires. On the front, completely remove tire from rim and re-mount on the opposing side. This is to compensate tire wear from the crown on the road.

I'm currently running the Bridgestone Duravis 235/80/17. I have almost 47K on them and they're just about done and have worn pretty even.

I'm thinking about going back to a normal steel valve stem in all 6 tires so I can rotate the tires in a traditional fashion.

47K on tires that get used hard ain't too bad. Am I making a mistake if I start rotating my DRW tires?

My personnal opinion, rotate.

On my '03 sig truck I ran Cooper Discoverer H/T's, until it was totaled, rotated every 7. 5-10k miles and had 75k miles on the tires with dead even wear across the tread on all 6 tires.

Probably could've gone another 5k miles.

I ran a shop for 20+ years and rotateing the tires is the 2nd or 3rd best thing you can do to in crease tire life. 1st and 2nd, maintain correct air pressure and alignment. 4th DON'T overload the tires.

Just rotae the 6 tires and forget about the spare.

Try to keep the same height tires together on the duals. NOT 1 that has tons of tread and 1 that's almost worn out.

Guess which one will be overloaded, taking all the load!

Just my $0. 02.

Try to keep the rotation/direction the same when rotating, you will hear it doesn't matter but it's not that hard to do.

378,000mi and i am 10,000mi into my 4th set of tires,i rotate at 7500-10000mi. always wear even down to replace time,50% tow miles. dont know what tiremans are but dont think they are helping tire milage

I'm on my third DRW Ram. Have always rotated all six. I buy Michelins from SAM's Club and let the guys in the tire shop provide free rotation every 7,500 miles. I get over 100,000 miles of wear from each set of Michelins.

No, I always figured its too much trouble to fool with the spare. It is probably not a bad idea though to wear it out also.

I have the original spare ordered with my '06 and built in January '06 on the flatbed of my current '08. It has never been on the ground.

I rotate my DRW tires including the spare. If you don't rotate the spare, you could end up with a full thread tire too old for useful service. Six years is considered maximum useful life for an LT tire. I push mine longer than that if they still have good thread and there are no cracks or other damage on the tire.

Just replaced the Michelins on my '04. 5, they had 150,000 miles on them.

1. Correct psi at all times.
2. Rotate at 7k miles.

Don't have a spare to match with the other 6. If I did it would be thrown in the rotation somehow.

Godspeed,
Trent

My buddies in the tire area of my local SAM's Club wouldn't charge me to rotate the spare into the mix but after the first set of OEM Generals are used up at about 65k I wouldn't rotate a General spare among Michelins.

Who in his right mind would have a different brand spare. That is not hip! That is like toeing a big tri-axle toy hauler with a SRW truck. :-laf

You got 65K off those junky OEM Generals? Not bad.

Costco and Discount Tire will also rotate and re-balance free if you purchased them there.

I've been such a good customer of my local SAM's Club for so many years, so many sets of Michelins, they allow me to pay the employee fee to rotate my original tires during their service life because they know they'll sell me all the tires I need during the life of the truck.

and a bead breaker, tire machine, wheel balancer? Two of the rear tires need to be re mounted.

No they don't. I rotate all 7 without re-mounting. If you read the Owners Guide, it doesn't say anything about re-mounting. It just say to rotate every so many miles. I don't rotate as often as it recommends. There's a chart for 6 or 7 rotation pattern.
