Terrible crash at Reno Air Races

Yeah Buddy! You got to watch them API rounds, they'll eat yer lunch and turn a shooting session into an all out fire scramble as you already described!

I've shot the . 50 M-2 in the service. While they are an imposing battle weapon, and Gunny Hathcock made an outstanding Kill shot with one, at another time and place. I'd much rather have a McMillian! I'm definitely Jealous:DOo. . I did consider buying an action back when McMillan had a buying program for FCSA members. GregH

OOW= Ohio Ordnance works.

They also have some pretty good deals this month on the FN A2 uppers. Complete- BCG.

In complete honesty, I dont know how many guns I own. All I know is I'll need a bigger safe soon. REAL soon. :-laf

Sweet, I'll take a look tonight when I get in, if I get time. A2??!?! Hell no!! I can barely keep rounds loaded for my single shot bolt gun!!! :-laf

And safes? That's plural. I explained to the wife I needed the big one for my personal guns and the other one for stuff I'm working on. She doesn't know about any others..... I really need to install bars on my office window and just put a safe door on the front... . stinkin' Craigslist... . Sell all the junk, and shoot the rest!! My arguments with her usually end with,"Well, you should be happy!! I don't waste money at the bar or have any girlfriends, I'm not an alcoholic or drug abuser, I tuck my kids in at night, and I'm almost always home on the ranch! Most women would be happy with that!!" She bites her tongue and goes away at that. She's just jealous I had a 1911 before her... ... (I sound tough, anyway... :D)

In reality, I'm starting to cull a few. I've got so many that I don't shoot, just because they're either so nice, or worth so much. Time for those to become liquid asset. Or trade for ammo. :D

That's funny! Those are the exact same reasons I use on my wife.
Now that I got the Clausing mill, she always says to me "Dont you want a Harley?":-laf
The garage is my workshop and she dont like all the aluminum chips that have been showing up in the driveway. :DOo.

If I should EVER say anything that might in the LEAST way P*** you guy's off please remind me of this post. :D All of a sudden my 338/378 aint I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER

LOL!! Nice!! :-laf My wife wants me to pave the driveway in front of my shop, as you drive up to the house past it, since it's built onto the house(keeps my porch clean!!). I get some pretty good comments from the kids and my wife when I light off a torch or keep chunkin' wrenches out the door into the pasture!! Keeps me honest, I guess. A Harley wouldn't be near as productive, and you wouldn't be at home all the time, making screaching sounds!! ;)

Like we'd give you warning... ... ... . that's called a spoiler shot. :D Hey, a . 338 has it's place. Ammo is much easier to carry in larger quantities without an armoured vehicle. It's a nice intermediate round! :-laf I really like my Lapua, despite me throwing away the last barrel I had. Hopefully, I'll be getting a new Krieger or Broughton this winter. Dang Surgeon XL action has 1. 25 threads in it!! Regular 1. 25 blank has no shoulder to crush against the reciever for stability!!

I looked at those, that's a good deal, if the barrels are not shot out. I'd have to look at it in person before I could buy one, though... ... what's the law regarding Ohio gun sales? I used to be able to buy in person. Bought a Remington 40x in 6mm Remington up at Dick's Gun room one year. Nice action, decent barrel once I set it back. I used it as a good . 243 barrel on a hunting rifle, and sold it to a friend who loves is. Hardly ever misses with the dang thing... ... I may have to road trip to Ohio..... Oo.

I dont see why you couldnt buy it in person. No NICS being it's not the serialized part.

A gauge set and bore scope would be nice. I only have a gauge set.

It's the whole rifle, so I would think you'd have to pass the NICS to buy it.....

A guage set might be needed, but a bore scope is not really all that neccesary, as if they'll let you dissasemble it, or will for you, you can easily see into the throat and chamber area with a light..... the bore's over 1/2" :D

But that's really why I want to find one owned by a civy, as more than likely, they don't get many rounds through 'em, being so expensive, and more often too much recoil for most. A lot of people I know have 'em and just don't shoot them, either because of the reason's above, or they have 'em just to brag about. And hopefully, if I could find a magically low round rifle, the same owner would be in a world of financial stress, and need to sell it now, for cash. Or his wife is selling it because she met his girlfriend at the gym last week... ...

Of course, knowing the Army, these might not have ever even been fired... ...

Oh, I thought you were referring buying to the uppers.

The Barrets ARE brand new on that site.

I mentioned buying uppers earlier as to the Safe Harbor and other similar AR-15 upper conversion.

I must have missed the new ones... . I saw the rearsenaled M82s... . they are demilitarized units I would presume, why else would they be magnafluxing the bolts and checking the headspace? Still a good price for a used one, if not shot out, kinda like factory refurbished. Where were the brand new ones?

Oh. OK.

Here's the emil from OOW. Theyre the ones with the heavily discounted Barret . 50's:

It's Bob again...

Sorry about the confusion, but here's the deal...

You probably already know that the website has crashed... multiple times (isn't technology great?)

I had counted on you getting the price info off the website - obviously that isn't working!

So here's the discount pricing: $6500. 00 for your Barrett rifle.

Normal retail price is over $8900. 00 so you're getting a true $2400. 00 discount.

The phone lines are ringing off the hook with people getting on the list, but there is still room, so if you call soon you can get a spot! Here's the number: 440-285-3481.

Thanks for your understanding and patience!

Bob...

Dont wait if youre serious. Sounds like theyre flying out of there.

Hell I dont know if MT even let's you have a 50. I cant imagine that they wouldn't Not to much gun regulation up here but who knows

No rifle caliber limits anywhere except Cali. Well, other than the Federal law on destrictive devices, which pretty much limits anything over 20mm by stating it as a "Destructive Device".

I've got some questions for them, so I'll call tomorrow. Hopefully, they've still got some by then..... I don't know, that's awful tempting. Think they'll trade for a Dodge diesel? :D

HEMIdart, I use MsMoly on cast lead bullets, but season a clean rifle bore with a dry patch that has been impregnated with dry moly powder. Same result. Shoot away! GregH

NOT IF IT"S A 4th GEN

That ain't no *****!! Luckily, I've been too tight to buy more than one 6. 7..... (and it got turned over! What a year!)

NO offense to anyone, but you're crazy to shoot ANY modern firearm with ANY form of liquid in the bore using a projectile the correct bore size..... I've seen one rain drop DESTROY a magnum rifle!! The article says the author likes to keep the bore wet between shooting sessions. I guess he gets it all out... or he has nine lives!! While I can't say I'm a fan, I can say there are some benefits to moly coating. Coating the bore can be advantagous, I think. I've seen and tried several products, including Dyna-bore and Bore-coat. I saw some improvement in one (1) rifle. It was a factory . 308 Remington. The bore had several cracks alongside the lands, and often copperfouled badly after just 20 rounds..... In testing, it picked up 90+fps with 168gr SierraMKs, and pulled the group down to 1/4 MOA. Any of the other rifles didn't seem to notice. I used it on one custom Shilen barrel, as I didn't dare use it on any other of my $400 custom barrels, and it didn't make any noticeable difference. Where the advantage came was with the poor quality of the hammer forged barrel. The ceramic coating filled in the gaps, which made it build less pressure, velocity more, and not tear the jacket on the bullet, evidenced by less copper fouling; at least that's my theory. It doesn't seem to help any with a decent to good barrel. Now, when you factor in the corrosive effects of moisture, heat, and moly, I don't think it's worth the PITA. In the article, the author states he has not had any problems with corrosion in his SS barrels... I find that strange, as SS is more suceptible... . Hmmmm.

I've always been lead to believe moly LOWERS the bullets FPS using the same load.

Less friction= less velocity.

Much the same at the Melonite (nitro carburised) etc barrels act after that process.

Patriot, Its true!!! And the "laws of physics" as they can be applied means you can ADD MORE POWDER:-laf:D!!! More powder means MORE VELOCITY!!!!Be careful as you approach your new maximum load! I take advantage if this at every opportunity;)! Thats one reason I LIKE MOLY!!! Good Shootin', GregH

A lot of that has to do with powder choice, as well, I'm told. Slower fps is typical with dual-based slower powders, which depend on pressure to ignite and burn the secondary components... . single base fast powders will typically burn the same rate. Pistol cartridges, I'm told, again, will pick up considerable fps, but I don't know how reliable those sources are..... I've never played with those. Altogether, I've been dissapointed with the bore coating systems..... and maybe I didn't do enough experimentation. But the accuracy gets so much better with a custom barrel over a factory, normally, I usually just unscrew the factory tube... ... . of course, it helps to have access to a lathe and tools... which I don't have at the moment!!!! I've got a new "candidate" in my office, too!! Ugh. This working thing sucks!!!
