I am looking for an egr delete kit. looking for good brands and pros and cons please its an

07. 5 6. 7L. any info would be much appreciated everyone. thank you. curious to what all comes with the kits

Just unplug it at the drivers side. Ignore the CEL, all its saying is the EGR has low voltage. You'll get better mileage and no more soot in your oil. Plus its free. I unplugged for about a month before I deleted. H&S delete kit plus SMarty JR ME is what you want.

I unplugged mine on the pass side, the high temp valve feeding the EGR cooler. . where those cables attach... same difference tho. . got about 1mpg more and less soot

I'm a big fan of H&S. I went with their Black Maxx programmer, EGR delete and fuel rail shim, and an AFE turbo-back exhaust.

If you get a Black Maxx or Mini Maxx, seriously consider the Overdrive software if you have the stock 68rfe.

I have seen the GDP kit and it's a great one.

I don't understand the unplugging the EGR and living with a CEL on a 40K+ truck... now you don't ever know if you have another issue that may do damage, just to save a few bucks.

I read "unplug on the driver side and ignore the CEL... ... ... .....

Would someone be more specific and translate CEL? This is my first 6. 7 and I hate EGRs!

Thanx.

Just like any OBD2 vehicle, if your EGR system is not functioning properly (read: unplugged, stuck valve, etc) you'll have a nice CEL lit up on your dash.

Well the dang TPS light stays lit up since installing the 19. 5s... ... ... ... ..... and it is Christmas, so I guess one more light is not a problem.

Per other users that have posted on other diesel sites. They claim that the H & S products like the Black Max will eliminate the TPMS light and ding along with the CEL for the EGR delete.

I can not say for sure, since I am using a Smarty and they do not eliminate the TPMS ding and light.

Any idea why Dodge or Cummins did not take the EGR gas after the DPF? Would have less soot then the current setup. Is there a way to just move the EGR pipe to after the DPF?

I think pressure is also a big problem. The EGR is pre-turbo so the exhaust back pressure helps overcome the boost pressure on the intake. If you simply moved the plumbing I think you would have boost flowing out the tailpipe, not the other way around. In other words, you could not have EGR and boost at the same time.

I read somewhere that the EGR valve is used as a relief for high boost pressure... ... ... working as a wastegate of sorts. It was recommended not to block it off but if unplugged significantly high boost pressure could/would still push EGR open and give peak boost a place to go.

Never actually had more than a cursory glance under the hood of a 6. 7 so just some info that sounds probable?

I'm not entirely certain it would work all that well - dumping excessive drive pressure back into the intake just doesn't seem like it would help much.

Speaking from personal experience with the Black Maxx, it does completely turn off the TPMS IF you want it to.

Didn't even think of that. . But that's the most important factor. 3 psi won't flow into 20 psi!

The EGR is not a wastegate at all.

The throttle is there to alter pressures to let egr overcome boost pressure
