Was changing the oil on my 06 and the thought came too me... should I get my oil checked???? My question is, is it worth it?? my truck runs just fine. . all stock and only has 55,000 miles as of today..... just do daily driving, and tow sometimes..... what ya guys think... thanks for any input:D

so, you get a sample when you change your oil??? I change every 5,000... and does the kit give you ranges of what the oil should be at?

Order the kit online from Genos (pre-paid) or a kit from someone like Blackstone (pay when you send it in).

The kit will explain the details.

Oil Analysis report

Heres a report from Oil Analyzers which I sell. Its for my truck. Shows the effect of removing certain components that would put fuel and soot in the crankcase... .

I did oil analysis on my 2003 truck, mostly because I bought it used and wanted to check for any problems. As a result of sampling I was able to increase the miles between oil changes. I originally was changing at 6k mile intervals, but increased to 8k, then 10k, then 12k miles. I used regular Rotella and Fleetguard filters.

I used Blackstone for the analysis and they recommended extending the oil change intervals. So I saved enough on oil and filters to more than pay for the analysis costs. The oil analysis info was a selling point when I sold my truck also. I had a total of six samples analyzed at a cost of about $140. I saved about 35 oil changes at a cost of about $35 each, or a total of $1225. For me it was well worth it, but I put a lot of miles on the truck.

i do it ever other oil change.
I found that when i dump oil out of the eap110 amsoil filter that i got a much less soot on the next oil change sample. I just turn it upside down for a minute to get the majority, then put it back on.
Cant lie with my oil results.

This is a perfect example of doing oil Analysis. If you stay on a 5k oil change interval then it's a waste of money IMO.

I do an oil analysis everytime I change my oil, but I go 25,000 miles between oil changes. I am on my 5th 25,000 mile oil change. Amsoil AME 15w-40 and a single Amsoil EaO80 or Donaldson ELF7349 oil filter and no oil bypass easily go 25,000 miles in my 04 305/555 cummins.
