On my International I'm having Alternator problems I took it and went to a truck elect. rebuild shop. They tore it down and have shown me that its pretty much history.
Its a 185 amp my question is there any harm or advantage to install a BIGGER amp alternator? They make them up to 280 amp. The reason is that on the stock trailer I have added substantially more lights and there are also lights in the trailer that are on for the gang running down the road also to the tractor. They are the LED type and I know that they take less power to run. On my trailer I have added 5 off road lights for when we put the horses in or out and for when we are putting them in their gear. Sometimes its still dark when we do this and need light for OUR safety. Just wondering if a high output alt is what i'm looking for. I will leave the truck idling while suiting up the gang as not to run off the batteries so to speak . Thanks for any info.
