I have to admit, I havent been as active tdr member as I was when I first joined. Last week, I was all but ready to sell my 07 5. 9L 6Speed. I ordered the truck on the last day to order 5. 9's and planned to keep it 10 years. I was going to replace it with a 1/2 Ton!
Friday, as i was merging on to the interstate, I thought the clutch slipped. Later that evering, as i was beginning a 1100 Mile round trip for the weekend, I knew the clutch was slipping. I nuresed the truck home sunday and began my research. Now I know this not the proper forum for engine and transmission and that not the direction i'm heading.
It is amazing how the search for the right clutch (by the way, I ordered a south bend street dual disc, the same one i had plan on buying to years once this one failed, but boy have the made improvements, cant wait to install this weekend) has renewed my love of this truck. I've got a smarty that I have never been to use to it's pontential in fear of clutch failure I also realized how far behind I am with the little tricks that members discover and share with other members. I would have never considered swapping for a 6. 7L damper until I skimmed across a tread yesterday when researching cluthces. The vast information available via the website and publication is unmatched.
I'm glad to be back, and i'm looking for ideas. Clutch is on the way, dmaper is on back order, currently reasearching tire options and other upgrades.
and think, if i hadnt had a $1,500 part failure, I might be driving a gas truck by now!
