That young man with the bi-nos is one great KID. He is my hunting buddy he takes it seriously almost as much as I do. We have talked about the people that his Dad brings up for 5 and 6 thousand dollars that have absolutely NO APPREATION of what is going on out here in the mountains.

We have spent MANY MANY hours on trail talking about all kinds of things in his life as well as mine I have told him things that I haven't told the wife because she wouldn't understand, HE DOES and that is rare for his age. I think that of all the young people that I know even my own blood this one is who I WANT TO TAKE CARE OF THE U. S. WHEN IM OLD.

AND HIS EYES ARE BEYOND BELEIFE HE HAS SPOTTED SOME FINE DEER AND EVEN BETTER ELK FOR HIS UNCLE BIG

Mikey the same as I feel I cant do without them. When I had my knee put in I didn't feel good at all until I could at LEAST SIT ON MY PORCH and just look at them.

Big, hope your knee is doin good so you can do the hiken and gettin around the way you used to.

He's just looking at the "BIG SKY" picture.

My favorite part of hunting is first thing in the morning.

Leave before the sun comes up, sitting on a mountain side, listening to the forrest waken up, squirrles, birds, breeze blowing through the trees, smell. Nothing like it in the world.

knee is doing fine better than expected really with the amount of extra work that the Doc had to do. I did what She said and surprise a woman that ACTUALLY knows what Shes talking about.

I don't even have to be hunting to enjoy the AM I have always liked the sun up gig. The air up here is so clean and crisp in the AM

Of course I do like the PM also because DINNER IS ON THE TABLE If you get to there late you might be left out. NOT REALLY there is quite a bit of food but appetites are ramped up at the hunting table.

This is my view at home and work. I guess I don't have much to gripe about. Other than a ranch house acroos the highway that I can't see or hear, my nearest neighbor is 3/4 miles away.

The snow capped mountains in the background is the Sequoia National Park

SO WHERE'S THE SNOW???????? looks good to me. Are you off of 99 or I5? and what off ramp?

I finagled that photo some so the Seqouia's look further off than they are.

I'm about an hour east of the 99.

Looks like fun At least I could work on things like that. I can work on the wife Chevy conversion because there is no computer BS to deal with. I like the old linkage and it moves a bell-crank and that opens the butter fly and so on and so on. This stepping on a potentiometer crap gives me headaches

Me too! Makes me want to run off to the mountains!! :-laf

That peace early in the morning is what most men desire. I get a lot of that. Not as much as I want, but I do get more than most..... Seems I get less and less each year, though..... :( I guess it's my time in this world... . Seems every time I'm just standing there on a hill, I see something that needs to be taken care of... . water gap washed out, fence knocked over, water line leak, windmill not pumping, hogs rooting up a field, ranch hands tearing up a truck, cow not where she's supposed to be... ... always something, I guess.

Maybe I can get my kids raised, and if I can live through that, maybe, just maybe, I can get back to that peace and quiet some... .

:D HA! Well, if you're at peace, and not in a hurry, you can devote the time neccessary to get that piece you want, too... . my wife says there's nothing sexier than a man pushing a vacuum cleaner!! It's been raining down here. Hurt my back climbing a wall yesterday, helping my cousin put up sheetrock in his "Baby addition" to his house, so I'm slow moving today. That made me lay in bed until 7, then get up and slowly get dressed, only to notice the floors needed to be swept and the carpets vacuumed. Not my job, but my wife and I used to do everything together until we had kids. We'd get up early, we'd trade out cooking breakfast for who went and fed the animals, then we'd either get going horseback or on fencework. If I had to plow, she'd help me move equipment, and go after parts if I needed 'em. In the shop here at the house, she often stops at the parts store for me, so I don't have to go to town. But with the kids, it's become her job and my job, which sucks grande!! I married my wife to be with her, not talk to her on the phone and pick up kids... ... hmmm, anyway. That's life, and our responsibilities at this point in our lives. I don't like it, at times, but that's how it is, so I'll do my best with what I'm given..... like this soapbox I'm on... . someone else take it, please... ...

Thanks, Greg. I have hopes my boy, and yours, will be taking these duties from us in the future. Perhaps then, if we can stand it, we'll be able to take a hike and get some shootin' in. BIG, we might have to look you up, too!! I do love me some high country hunting. If it paid better in the 90's, I'd probably still be up there!!

Then again, the girls up there were pretty thin in numbers... ... not sure if I could taken all winter of that and not gone south for a bit... ... . "Now, take the polar bear, for example. He can go 6 months without any attention at all... ... . but after 6 months, he goes to clawing up his fellow animals to death..... the same is true for gold miners... " -John Wayne in "North to Alaska. "
