My Lie-Ometer said I was getting 8. 2 pulling my triple axle toy hauler 73 miles an hour on the Oklahoma turnpike sunday... probably normal?!?!?
Yep, it's normal. Pulling a tall trailer like that with a very large frontal area at 73 mph you were pushing a lot of air. That demands power and creating power burns fuel - lots of it.
You may have been pushing a headwind also if you were running southwest from Joplin to Tulsa or Tulsa to Okie City. Our Cummins engines are the best engines money can buy in a light truck but they can't overcome the laws of physics.
