I woke up one morning with the AR bug in my ear and have been obsessed ever since.

So far I have the following:

NOS KD stripped lower receiver

Geisssele SSA trigger kit

And this morning, I ordered a Bravo Co 16" A2/flat top mid length gas barrell, Bravo charging handle and Bravo bolt BCG.

Still have a few parts left to buy but I'm almost there!

Youre going to be happy, theyre all good parts and should serve you well.

I could have saved you some $$$ on the trigger though. :D

Are you going with handguards, or a freefloat rail/tube?

I just finished this on Friday.

Hopefully I can bring it to the range this week. :D

Specs:

20" Black hole weapons std profile SS barrel. . 264 LBC 1-9" twist, 3 groove polygonal rifling.

12" Centurion FF hand guard.

Billet upper receiver.

Sabre lower.

2 stage RRA NM trigger.

Magpul grip

Leupold Mark AR scope. 3x9x40

Burris scope mount

Satern chromed bolt.

USGI bolt carrier (FN contractor)

KNS NR trigger pins

adjustable gas block

LaRue bipod adapter, Harris bipod.

I never get tired of looking at AR's.

Kinda like nudy mags. Ya, you've seem them pics before, but it's fun to look again and again and again... .

I'm not sure yet. Too many options!

I like the standard look of handguards, but the cnc machined rail/tubes are bad***** too.

How much smithing does it take to mount rail/tubes? Or are some easy to mount, . . . depending on what I buy?

Everyone is a little different.

The Daniel Defense Omega mounts to the factory barrel nut/delta assembly. Very easy.

The one I have mounts to the std barrel nut w/o the delta assy. Very easy.

Many have their own barrel nuts to use with the FF tubes.

Each is it's own design.

I was going to go with the Vtac/JP tube. It's not a picatinny type. It's very smooth and clean looking.

Thanks for the info.

Guess it shows how little I know about AR's.

Your kidding... ... right?

Cali is almost as ridiculous as NJ as far as gun laws.

Agreed, however, a couple of these folks seem to live in the Golden state. Last time I checked, I thought that the politicians had driven just the price of the receiver to about $3,000?

You can buy a $79 receiver. Do you mean a pre ban or something?

I must admit, I'm much more familiar with the NJ laws.

There are NO loopholes in NJ laws.

Hmmm, Just looking at my Creedmoor Sports Catalog, from Oceanside , California, I might add! Has a Fulton Armory Mil-Spec A-2 complete lower receiver(the serial numbered and controlled component), for $364 with the standard trigger and as high as $498. 00 with the Geissele SSA 2-stage trigger, installed. Includes butt stock/buffer assy. , grip and 1-10 round magazine.
Mil-Spec defined as being a Forged 7075 -T6 Receiver with the proper hard anodized finish(there is a specification number for that process also).
Billet receivers , are cheaper but not as rugged. Alloy/Metallurgy/grain structure are key! Watch those cheap lowers!
Patriot! The . 264 LBS/6. 5 Grendel are outstanding cartridges for an AR!
I'm building Bolt rifles presently. May get the AR bug later. Just have to get rid of the nightmares from the original issue A-1's, back in 1967:mad::-laf!

In Ca, the only part of my AR that's registered is the stripped lower. I paid $150 for it. Everything else is off the books and doesn't require government suppresion.

For Ca AR's, you can just about have all the cool and scary stuff as long as you have a fixed magazine that can only be removed via a tool (aka/ bullet button). Still limited to 10 round magazines.

If ya want an AR with a traditional removeable magazine (via finger tip), you can't have the scary stuff, . . pistol grip, flash hider etc.

I'm building a scary version.

Thanks for the links. I talked to my friend that was with me when we priced the lowers awhile back at a local gun store. He remembers too that it was $3000! However, he was aware that the price was back down. This aparently happened right after Obama took office and the dealer said that he couldn't even keep them on the shelf if he could even get them. I guess there was a big scare out here in Kalifornia at that time. Maybe I will look back into this project.
