I have a bit of a problem that I need help with. My 98 12 valve truck's wait to start light is not lighting up even if I put the AIT sensor in a cup of ice cubes. The grid heaters work but the light will not turn on. I have tested the AIT sensor using the info in the Dodge service manual and it seems to work fine. The wait to start light also doesn't come on when the key is first turned like the brake, check engine, ect...
Now for the tricky part! While driving and making any boost the wait to start light will come on. The light stays lit until I stop to turn, stop sign,ect... then comes right back on.
I have just completed a 5 speed conversion on the truck and I also did away with the fuel shut off solenoid. I am hoping the wiring involved in this wouldn't cause my problem. My concern is that the PCM isn't receiving some signal that it should be.
I do not think the grid heaters are turning on with the light while driving. They would have melted by now
Thanks for your time and any help would be greatly appreciated, MBanning
Edit to add symptoms are same with Air intake temp sensor unpluged.
