The "studies" pointed to, are pretty universal in 2 areas:
1. They IGNORE the fact that that sheer numbers of PC's operating with a Windows OS automatically increase the numbers of those PC's to be targeted as compared to the far lesser numbers of PC's running other OS or Internet software - which auto maker is likely to have more accidents in the USA, Ford, or Yugo? Most likely Ford, since they have a few more vehicles on the road than Yugo...

2. They have focused upon failures occuring on PC's that have FAILED to upgrade software for at least a year:
And what happens when MS and related software IS properly installed and updated?
In my own personal experience, what I can state for certain, is that I have run IE9, and currently IE10, on XP, Vista, and currently Windows 7, without ANY virus or related infections or issues other than THIS, and one single other board running seriously outdated software - and also Firefox and Chrome on all those same OS's, and I and my daughter have experienced SEVERAL nasty infections when using Chrome and Firefox. The MS browsers have been CONTINUALLY automatically updated as new Internet threats have steadily been introduced,
yet, neither Firefox or Chrome have YET, to the best of my knowledge, EVER offered or provided updates by their developers! This means either of 2 possibilities:
!. (IF you're foolish enough to believe it!) Firefox and Chrome were so marvelously designed and developed from the beginning as to never NEED security updates. or (more likely),
2. They have sacrificed security for speed and seamless function with as many websites and applications as possible (as well as to the occasional devious infiltrators)...
Back to the purpose of THIS thread - It would seem pretty obvious that there's an incompatibility issue between the latest board software upgrade, and MS OS - most currently, IE10 - and the glaring question is, WHO'S responsible for that compatibility - MS, or the aftermarket board software - or perhaps the Administrator of this board for activating a function that is no longer permissible under the latest board software parameters...
