Don't know what is considered small but the Ford F 650 and 750 have a Cummins and Allison trans combo that looks pretty good.
I've driven quite a few with that combo. Not bad at all.
I drove one this afternoon, looking good to ME!!!!! have a bunch of different HP and Allison Trans options. SOLID AS A ROCK I intentionally went to the part of town that has lots of RR crossings and it took them very well.
BIG
Bare chassis or a body on it?
Heard this at a job site today. From what I understand the EPA is driving Cummins to give up on the pickup market by 2015. Anybody else heard anything like this ?. I would not doubt it as the EPA has their nose stuck in everything.
Dave
Cat exited the OTR market because their ACERT engine was a disaster. Cummins was on the forefront by meeting the 2010 standards 3 years ahead of schedule- I doubt they'd give up now, especially since there are no more standards coming down the road. I wonder if this rumor was started by a disgruntled Ford owner whose 6.7 is in the shop for new heads and valves.Cat stopped the OTR engines a while back, now maybe Cummins smaller diesels maybe not worth the effort of dealing with up coming emissions. So I understand emissions is what it is all about.
