have you tried the sylvania brite star replacement bulbs, you can get them at wally world for under 50 bucks they are a big improvment over oem

I agree with the above... I've imported some LED's for the inside of RV's to reduce the 65 watt rv lights to 4 watts with more light.... the vendor I've used doesn't have a headlight suitable at this time... there are some HID's but their a problem as well some times.... I think in a couple of years the product will make an introduction to the after market... but its just not ready today....

But.... a 120 V led for the house... to replace a Par 38 ?? (60watt) is now available for under $15 and the price keeps falling... the 12V stuff is not far behind....

It isn't so much the bulb, the housing and reflector have more influence on the quality of the light. The OEM lamp assemblies are no longer available for my old Dakota, and the knock off replacements are terrible compared to the OEM housings. I tried the better bulbs but it made very little difference. I'm actually thinking about getting used OEM's and polishing them up. They have to be better than these shiny new junk.

I am having a hard time buying into the LED headlights retrofits UNLESS it is sold as a complete headlight unit. After seeing the new Freightliner Cascadia OEM LED units with the specialized reflectors I don't think some aftermarket replacement LED bulb in a stock housing is gonna' cut it.

I may be wrong about that, it wouldn't be the first time......:-laf

While those led lights look nice, be sure Check out the Phillips Xtreme Vision for your truck...NOT a gimmick, not blue or white, but instead an upgraded filament and gas mix halogen bulb that DEFINITELY improved the forward lighting on my 2005 so I don't see why it wouldn't on your 2007 with even better reflectors. It also keeps the fialment in the same location as the oem bulb, so it works correctly with the oem reflectors. I like to buy bulbs from Candlepower.com, excellent customer service from Kenny. http://store.candlepower.com/ You can just call and ask them what type bulb you need for your application if you do not know the actual bulb type, but be sure to spec the XtremeVision.

I am currently in the process of installing a set of CREE LED H13 replacement lamps into my 2006 Mega. I will do the beam pattern pictures this evening.

There is one COB LED for the low side and COB LED on the high side.

The set I have activates both for the high beam.

There are two suppliers that I know of right now:

I am using the Phillips kit for my install.

****You will need to add 50w resistors (x4) to replace the oem headlight load in order to protect the TIPM****

The TIPM needs to "see" the correct load of a working headlight. The LED drivers only draw 2 - 2.4 amps (24w-28w) which is low enough to cause driver issues within the TIPM/

The stock headlights on my 03 SUCK. While I have seen some nice aftermarket assemblies they usually leak after a while, letting water in. Even polishing the lens doesn't really help. David

I am in the same situation as I bought "stock" looking set of new headlights from amazon and within a week the passenger side was cracked and now has water in the bottom just sitting in there and sloshing around while i drive around.

The Silver Start Ultra's do offer a significant improvement, but the stock housings can't compare to the optics on my old Mercedes.

You guys are so spoiled. :D The headlights in my 03 are 10X better than the ones my 93 had and i installed 100Watt bulbs in those.
OTOH, Our Prius (ya, I know) has 100X better lights than my 03.

Scott

Yes I had the Philips 1800 luman model. Terrible beam pattern and did not throw light at all. The fog lights where brighter and threw light further.

If you upgrade, please find a complete unit that has the correct reflecting housing for that type of lighting. I'm sick and tired of being blinded by cheap, plug in type HID or LED bulbs in the wrong housing. I know the extra lighting is great but it is very offensive to oncoming drivers.

Great post and I couldn't agree more!
BTW, this goes for the junk Silver Stars too.

I'd buy it immediately but is there any better Headlight on the market than the stock unit?
It seems not. All garbage.
