I still don't get the green "OK" when I hook up, I have a flashing "C" and "OH" monitor. It's been
3500 miles, my guess I have some sort of emission problem. Anyone have any similar results ?

Am I asking the wrong question?

Anyone plug in one of these or similar and get the GREEN LED to illuminate with the CTD?

I have one of those... I'll check it out today.

I vaguely recall I never got a green light with it on my 2001 though.

Not sure what you're looking for. There is no drive cycle to complete with diesel, far as I know. The newest configs can be different but there are no monitors on my 04.5. OBD2 gas engines have drive cycles, and when complete, and code P1000 is satisfied, the green light would come on.

Wayne, even my 98' 12V had an OBDII drive cycle but only had 2 or 3 monitors to report and gave the Green OK.
My 14' shows a full load of passing monitors, just two remain incomplete (C & OH)

John L - Would like to see what your result is - Thanks

Hmmm. I thought I remember seeing monitors not supported on a DRB I had used.
What are the C & OH monitors?
I know some gas engine monitors can be difficult to complete.

Plugged mine in this evening with the ignition in the RUN mode, but with the engine not started. I got a green light after it a scanned. There were no trouble codes and no monitor icons present.

The model scanned that I have is an Innova 3030... just like the picture you posted.

Did you scan with or without the engine running?

John L.

Yes there are monitors on diesels. They will vary by year, and some are always "passed" regardless if they ran or not.

I scanned with and without the CTD running using my Innova 3030, same result, but with a Yellow LED returned and the two incomplete flashing monitors w/ no pending codes:

C = Catalyst Monitor
OH = Oxygen Sensor Heater Monitor

YELLOW LED - Indicates there is a possible problem. A “Pending” DTC
is present and/or some of the vehicle's emission monitors have not run their
diagnostic testing.

It's a problem for me, I must undergo annual NYS inspections which will not be performed without first passing monitors.
I will have to add this to my dealer fix list.

To all, thanks for the responses on this issue.

I found this in the manual - "When the Car Reader is linked to a vehicle, only the icons for Monitors that are supported by the vehicle
under test are visible on the display"

Make sure you do not have to update your reader. My neighbor purchased a Harbor Freight reader for $100 and it required an update right out of the box before it worked correctly. Update was easy, but it was not covered clearly with the tool instructions. I found someone had posted the web info for the manufacturer that makes the scanner. They must sell to multiple retailers.

The HF tool is similar to the Autel AL419

Had dealer replace my leaking power steering hose yesterday and I confirmed what Wayne wrote that the monitor/pass for OBD2 only applies only the gas engines. Tech told me that if there was any problem, the CEL would light, and that I should not be concerned. I had a P2002 soft code before I went in, he perform two ECM flashes and was told that should fix the P2002 issue.

With the drb you must use the generic scanner mode to see monitors.Never looked on the witech

Rrrl989, no need to worry about passing monitors and NYS diesel emissions. A diesel vehicle is never plugged into the machine. Only the safety portion is done on the machine, then it gets an opacity test. Take it from me, I am a NYS inspector.

Thanks for the info.

No problem. But I'm wondering, didn't you go through this wringer with your last truck in your sig? It will be the same procedure, in fact seeing its a '14, and this is its first inspection, it should only be a safety. A sticker with a circle like you should have now.

No annual inspection yet, I'm metro NY so it's eventually safety and emissions (year 2+?), but I don't want to find out nearing the end of warranty period. As I never had my 98' ever fail, I never looked into the details. Obviously now I was mistaken about the gas vs. diesel Monitor test PASS, but using my same Innova reader on my 12V CTD, it always showed the ALL monitors as set or PASS as displayed (so that was "normal" to me). The difference between my 98' and my 14' is that the 98' only made visible about three monitors and all would quickly set, whereas the 14' displays about twelve with the "OH" never setting so of course it raised my concern as it deals with the heated Oxygen sensor and we have several on the 14'.
