If it's a long bed, it could be the center/carrier bearing, whichever you choose to call it. My first one would only vibrate while pulling a trailer.

Could be your harmonic balancer....

If it is the balancer, go back with the original or the 6.7 balancer. I walked past a used for a few weeks aftermarket balancer in my shop today. If I ever take up fishing, at least I'll already have a boat anchor.

I also have an engine that gives me an intermittant miss, fuel knock, popping sound. Smarty Jr. has been un-installed, ECM completed cleared, and flashed, Stock valve body put back in the trans, checked all the grounds and I can't find the issue. I even spent a bunch of money on new Bosch injectors, and it made no difference. I also experience (occasionally) a wicked jolt when the grid heater is cycling, and causes the injection timing to be off. The grid heater cycling sometime gives a far worse jolt than it ever should. I am afraid it is going to break the crank shaft. When it is cold out (right around the freezing mark) I'll be driving along then hear and feel for a duration of 1 to 2 seconds of what sounds like fuel Knock. Is my ECM must be getting dirty Voltage from a voltage regulator, or battery temp sensor or ???? I have know idea what is wrong with it. Driving over bumpy road should show a loose ground or bad electrical connection. I have had no luck with that though. The injectors do what the ECM tells them to do, so why is the ECM giving the injector a bad signal. Anyways, it is a very intermitant issue that I can reproduce at will. And of course, no codes.

There were a couple of Smarty SR TNT tunes that were behaving exactly as you described on certain 03/04 trucks. Should not apply to your SJR, especially since the Smarty software has been removed.

I would completely remove the grid heaters from the system electrically, if that solves the issue, then go back and find the heater or more likely the grid heater solenoid(s) causing the issue, if it is. How did you determine the grids are causing the injection timing to be "off" ? Just a rattling sound that you are assuming is timing rattle when the grids are cycling? I am not saying you are incorrect, just trying to get the clearest sequence of the issue, get you back on the path of enjoying your truck without worry.

I have had the U-joints replaced twice. Just finished a 2 month journey through Canada and Alaska. The problem continues. It is a shudder when down shifting. The vibration is there. It doesn't happen all the time. I kind of lean toward the torque converter and even mentioned this to my dealer who said there was nothing wrong with mine before I left for Alaska. I will not be home in Texas until early November and plan on taking it back to the dealer.

Well, After I installed a fuel pressure gauge to see what the CP3 receives for fuel, it is apparent that I was starving the CP3 pump. I wish I would have recognized the symptoms of a knock or miss, with lack of fuel pressure. This cost me money and time.

That is unusual as the in-tank LP's normally do not fail like that. What did you end up with as pressure at the CP-3?

In the winter (-13 celcius) the pressure into the CP3 was dropping below 3psi, and it would probably have kept dropping if I didn't take my foot off the pedal. In the summer time my fuel pressure is between 5 and 9 psi.
