Nope, the 68RFE is all Chrysler based on Mercedes technical input during the DaimlerChrysler days.

That's a bummer. The Tundra I just got rid of had an Aisin built trans in it and it was awesome. Much crisper shifts than the trans in my new Dodge. I hope I don't regret getting the auto.

In my opinion yes. It keeps the line pressures up and shift points up and will keep it from lugging. It makes the EB actually slow the vehicle down. With the TH off the EB is not doing much to slow you down. Your service brakes will last well over 100K if you keep them both on at all times.

Do you have a sense of what the MPG sacrifice is?

If you do a lot of local stop and go up to 45 mph you will get about 1mpg better but speeds after that it will make no difference. What I don't like is lugging along and even with the EB on it does no good fro slowing the rig unless you have the TH on also. When we are in the Palm Springs we travel along HWY 111 a lot and it is stoplight after stoplight with speeds up to 45-50. With TH off you will get a bit better mileage but you will be using your service brakes a lot.

I prefer keeping my line pressures up and letting the EB do it's job.It may cost a couple bucks in fuel but my brakes will last well over 100K and I know the trans will last much longer also.

I wouldn't worry about the 68.. I have 155k on my 2011 work truck that weighs in at 10k everyday and it owe a lot including a 28ft charge trailer that I have had over its rating of 16k. Once I put a smarty Jr on it the trans was. Of as happy but a valve body and pressure box and its would added and the trans acts great now. Ya I figure in another 50 k I will have to rebuild it but it gets run hard and abused with stop and go city driving.
