Had the dead pedal for a couple of weeks. Ordered a rebuild from Pensacola Diesel and had it two days later. Also ordered a Vulcan Big Line relocater and a new lift pump (high volume Holly type). I plan to put it under the driver side on a frame rail. However, that will happen tomorrow, as I am trashed from the heat here in good ol' Georgia. The truck feels brand new anyway. I can't believe how responsive it is now. It's amazing how slowly it has lost performance, until the dead pedal started.
The other part of this has to do with Geno's. I ordered the Vulcan kit from the factory, by phone. I wanted to ensure that it would be here by Friday at the latest. As fate would have it, the line kit ended up in Ohio. I called Vulcan and asked if they had a dealer in the Atlanta area where I could walk in and buy it. He said he was sure they had one and said Geno's is in Cumming, Georgia. I work about 25 miles from there and took off in a flash. This was at 4:45 on Friday afternoon. I took the GA 400 hghway and thought all was well until it came to a screeching halt. A big rig had overturned and hit an overpass. I was between exits and had no way off the highway. Derrick at Vulcan called me back and said Geno's was going to GIVE me the line kit at no charge and not to worry about the kit I ordered, he would take care of that problem. I told him of the traffic dilemma and he said he would call me back after he talked to Brandon at Geno's. Brandon told him to tell me not to worry if I couldn't make it by 7
M. He said he would stash it somewhere outside the shop for me to pick up when I made it. THIS is Service with a capital S. When I got there Brandon gave me the nickel tour and I met Robin... ..... Geno's daughter, one of the owners and a hoot to chat with. Robin and Brandon are top shelf folks. I was invited to drop by any time and get whatever I need or just come by and chat. I had no idea they were located here, even tho' we have ordered stuff from them in the past.
Derrick at Vulcan was as 'Stand-up' as I anyone I have ever dealt with in business and I recommend them to anyone needing the kind of products they sell. We can certainly use more folks like this in our world. I can't say enough good about any of these folks.
