Cummins12v98: Have you received a VIN yet? Just curious if they're moving quickly with order? Also wondering if you could send me your option sheet? I want to put together an order very similiar to yours. Thanks so much.

What amount of DEF use towing as heavy as I do (29k combined) should I expect to see, also solo driving?

I haven't towed yet, just grocery gettin', a small commute to work, probably 70/30 city freeway split, I'm right about a 1000 miles per gallon of DEF.

You didn't want to get dual alternators!? The snow plow group gives you 220, right? No sun roof - what?!! Thanks again for this...

What's the restriction about?? Or, did you already mention that and I missed it?

Snow plow prep = dual alternators & skid plate.

Yes power sun roof.

Restriction, no idea what that means???? Anyone know????

I'm pretty sure the snow plow group gives you one alternator, a 220. Not two. I could be wrong, but don't think so. The restriction means the factory has restricted the orders on that particular truck for whatever reason. Just thought you may know why. It could have been lifted by now?? The sun roof will be nice. Very nice truck you've got coming!! Can't wait for a review of the air ride set up.

My truck has the snowplow package, and yes it has a single 220 amp alternator. I bought my truck off the lot, my dealer was reluctant to order me one. They have a bazzilion trucks in stock and want to move them. Mine was kind of a leftover 2013 that had been on the lot for awhile and they really wanted to sell it. It had some things I didn't want such as the sunroof, but I couple of items on it are worth their weight in gold. One is the cargo camera, I have a 5th wheel with a goose neck extension. I can't see the ball especially with the Knaack Box in the back. The cargo camera makes hitching a breeze. It also had the 4.10 which I didn't know at the time, window sticker was MIA at the time. I think this was one of the reasons it was on the lot so long. I test drove it before I bought it and the rpm was in the right range for the speeds I drive, 55 max when towing in Calif and a lot of grades to climb where I am. Glad I got that ratio, pulls hills fantastically and I get to use all 6 gears when towing.

I originally bought a dually because of the heavy overhead camper I carry. Man what a difference, rock steady and no squirm in the corners. With the 30' 5er you hardly know it is back there. As for tire wear, I do not rotate tires, and thus I have different replacement intervals. I usally only have to buy a front or rear set at one time spreading out the pain a bit. I can't say for sure as I have no way to compare but I have been told and believe it to be true that a DRW wear rear tires more slowly than a SRW because the torque is spread out over 4 instead of two especially when towing. And we all know how much torque these things make.

As far as driving in town, DRW's are really not that much wider than a SRW. You get used to it quickly, the worst part is the length of the thing. The lanes in most parking lots are just too narrow to be able to get into a spot easily. I just park in the back 40, the walk does me good anyway.

This is my second dually and I wouldn't have anything else. The cool factor doesn't hurt either but we have a lot of them here. Cow country here and a lot of ranchers use them to pull stock trailers and the local college has a rodeo program and the kids love to pull their horse trailers with them too.

My 12V served me very well and I liked it alot. Do I want it back, nope.

Here is the reason for restriction.

"It was on restriction because the allocation for our orders was not available till the first of the month"

No sweat then...glad you got VIN. Stay patient, but I know that's impossible. Did you try the SPP guy over on Ramz? He can give great updates. Can I mention another forum on here? Don't wanna get banned after just joining!!!
