I have noticed this winter if I start the truck to warm up, or if I stop and leave run and get back in, it has a terrible exhauust fume smell inside the cab. Where should I look?

Thanks in Advance

Larry

On a windless day the heater can suck in some exhaust fumes. I used to notice this when I was spending a lot of time in the truck while delivering RV's.
You may have a problem, but then again maybe not

You might check your tail pipe for rust through just after it goes over the rear axle. The rest of the system is stainless and will last a long time but that part can fail early especially if you make short trips.

look at the back of the cab kind of hard to seebut there are 2 vents think they are pressure equalizers, but if they are not sealing closed exhaust could getting in

JHAwes, I guess I would say it is more like oil rather than exhaust.

The exhast, other than the manifold is all MBRP, stainless and excellent shape

I asked about the oil smell because I had it pretty bad before I sold my 04.5. Once the engine warmed up and I'd come to a stop....peeeeewweeeee.

I had serious oil blow by but I've read where others had a clogged crankcase filter that sits just below the valve cover. Geno's has them for $70 something I believe.

Make certain you don't have some serious fuel/oil dilution going on. When my 06 smelled like that, it had a cracked injector body and I was smelling fuelly oil for a day or two before I realized what was actually going on. The vapors being vented from the engine were nasty.

If its a burnt oil smell, what kind of oil are you running?

I just changed oil and have strong smells when sitting or when coming to a stop. Going to change back when oil change is needed.

I have found that the high end motorcraft and Rotella stink.

Yes. The Rotella gives off nasty smells. I used it when I first bought truck and had to change it cause the smell was too intense. Im using valvoline blue and have had no problems since.

Google Mopar Diesel Fresh. Not sure if any dealers still sell it, but in the road draft days it was a pretty good seller.

"To Give Your Engine Oil A Lemon Scent"

I about fell out of my chair.
