I've had my truck for about 3 mo and 2500 mi. Love this truck, 15 CC SB 4x4 Aisin.
Anyway, I just received an offer from Chysler Group for an extended warranty (Mopar Veh Protection Plan) and will save $150 if I get it prior to 12 mo or 12k mi.
I assume this is the legit factory plan. They don't list prices or options, only to call.
Is this a good plan and whats a good price for it?
I never buy extended warranties, but with $10k plus fuel systems and all the electronics I fear down the road it could get expensive.
Also, they said my truck "may" be elgible for a lifetime plan, but I believe this doesn't apply to the CTD?
What are your thoughts?

make sure you are not getting the power train warranty.....and the bumper to bumper isn't the greatest either. I made sure that the one I got covers everything....and yes I read the damn fine print with my wife reading it with me to make damn sure that everything is covered, with very few exceptions.

read it very though!

Clutches and brakes are not covered, and any signs of abuse or misuse will void warrantee. And bad fuel IS considered abuse. Proof or not, once they say no you have the burden.
They wouldn't be trying to sell these unless there was BIG profit for them, they aint doing it because they are nice. You could do the same thing by putting the monthly amount this is going to cost and put it in a separate account. if you need it, it is there, if not you have a bunch of money left over. The last one they tried to sell my daughter was close to $200 a month for 72 months. That's over $14,000, that's a lot of repairs! Funny thing was the car came with a 5 year 100,000 mile warrantee from GM.

When I purchased my 2012, I went with Chrysler Maximum Care Warranty. 7 years, 70,000 mile warranty. I have a $100.00 deductible. I paid $1500.00 for the warranty at time of sale with the truck. Many feel this is one of the best extended warranties available.

/\ THIS /\ My brother sells these warranties.
There are a bunch of different kinds & coverage. Bumper to bumper will be very costly. Power train means everything that oil touches, NOT ELECTRONICS usually.
Ask about vanishing deductible (unless youre pricing $0 deductible) and 0% financing deals. Just like buying vehicles...prices are at least a little flexible.

I got the same extended warrenty that Camperman has it is just a few hundred $ more expensive toady for the coverage.

I don't think they would ever be able to prove this unless it was a different color or smell.

Contamination in my experience is usually water and it's not that hard to tell.Since the addition of DEF and the fillers being so close together there is a legitimate risk of that oh s@@@ lapse.

Remember, your 10K fuel system isn't covered if they determine it got a dose of contaminated fuel.

That sounds like a Ford 6.7 with the CP4.2! RV.net and other sites are full of Ford horror stories, while GM silently fixes them under warranty. SNOKING

I'm still on the fence on getting one. If I get one, I will try to get a group buy done so we could all save some $$ on the Chrysler Max Care warranty.

When I purchased my 04.5 new I bought the extended warranty. I was worried about the use of the elect injectors, had I known that I would have had such good luck with this truck I wouldn't have bought the warranty.

If I were to buy a New Truck, I wouldn't leave the sales lot without it, the exhaust alone can take a large part of a bank account to repair when its out of warranty. Of course that's about the time it starts breaking and YOU are left with the option of going back to an older truck or pay the piper.

Well with my 2011 Ram 3500, the extended 100K warranty has come in handy...
I'm at about 86K...
Just had new Steering gear box (steers a lot better and tighter), & front and rear seals (leaking) on the transfer case done on the extended warranty.
New water pump (failed tests) and thermostat from overheating issues on the Cummins Warranty.

But none of the warranties would cover the O2 sensor and wiring they wanted to do....

In September I'll take it back to the dealer and let them go over it again with a fine tooth comb before I'm out of all warranties....

I'm glad I got the extra protection this time. Will likely do it again on my next truck....stuff is just getting so crazy complicated and expensive on them and we use the truck hard carrying a truck camper and pulling a toybox.

My wife's 2007 Camry Hybrid we paid for an extra warranty and never used it for anything, 130K miles of perfection so far.....wouldn't do it on a car again.

Still got my 07 and i did not buy the warranty, only time i had it in a shop was to replace clutch at 124,000 miles, now it's got 142,000 on it and still running great, Monte

Yep, I had the same results on my wife's Honda. It was a waste of money. If we purchase another Honda or Toyota, we won't buy the extended warranty, but owning a car from Chrysler, Ford, or GM the results would probably be different.

I bought an extended warranty from Chrysler on my '95- everything that went wrong either wouldn't have been covered or broke after the warranty had expired. I passed on the warranty on my '03, and the only covered failure it had was the HVAC doors- and that was when the truck was 10 years old, so it wouldn't have been covered anyway.

About 5 years ago, when I bought one of the first GE hybrid water heaters from Lowe's, I opted for the extended warranty as it was a relatively new technology. When the evaporator failed in two years, the warranty refunded my full purchase price. It was paid by none other than AIG.
