Diesel Fuel Filler Cap

I found a cheap alternative to those expensive diesel filler caps that Geno's garage sells.

Found a #9 rubber stopper on EBay. Actually have a spare because someone was selling 2 for $5. (Including shipping)

Fits perfect. There are others on Ebay. Or you can buy a bag from a chemical supply store and split them up with your diesel -driving friends

if anyone wants my spare, and lives in south florida, you can have it.

The green plastic filler cap that came with my truck has worked fine for 18 months now. Fits perfect.

My truck didn't come with a green plastic filler cap. Most dealers remove that because it is considered packing material. But Gen ' s sent me one (green plastic filler cap for free) when I ordered a fuel filter. 2 weeks ago when I set it on the bed cover when filling up, the wind blew it down between the cab and the bed. I couldn't get it out and when I got home, it was long gone. So i looked at work for a rubber stopper. Saw #8 was too small & #10 too big. We didn't have any #9, so found a couple for sale on Ebay.

Being light and easily blown away is a drawback. I always stick mine inside the truck when I fuel. I have been thinking about adding a fishing leader or something similar so it won't get lost.

I just bought a rubber 1-1/4" pipe end. Had to trim 1/4" off of height, but it covers the entire filler tube completely, so dust has a harder time getting down the fuel flap. Best $2 bucks I've spent on this rig.

Re: that "expensive cap", if it is the same one I got from Geno's, it has a magnet on one end that you attach to the inside of the filler door. That has worked well for me since the magnet is more than strong enough to hold it. Maybe the OP got the $20 cap and not the $42 with the magnet.

Actually, I got the $0 free one from Geno's. They sent the green plastic one complementarily with my fuel filter purchase.

I didn't like the new filler cap and was wondering what I was going to do with mine, but I lucked out that the Utility bed manufacture switched to a standard cap!

That's what I did. Geno's also sent me the green one. I use both, double protection from dust and stuff.

I bought the original aluminum one from Genos and the second time I used it one of the o rings broke and it has been a real PITA to remove. It is a POS!

BUT.. Ram saved a nickel not supplying a decent cap.

I was showing a friend the capless filler design and Geno's cap today, and as always, the Geno's cap fits so snugly that it can be a slight challenge to remove.

I purchased one from Geno's (has a magnet in the end to store it while fueling). Having arthritis, it was difficult to remove and install. I purchased the Carli suspension version and it is much easier to remove and install, and the magnet is a little stronger and does not keep falling off the fuel door arm while fueling.

I like the Carli one the best. I have been using the pipe cap since I got my truck a year ago but it sure seems goofy every time I fill my truck taking that off so I ordered the Carli version.
