My stock Cummins pump had England stamped on it.
Regcabguy, I am curious as to how many miles your water pump lasted (the one with England stamped on it)? Was it the original water pump? The reason I ask is that I have 2002 Dodge Cummins (original owner) and at 215,000 miles I replaced that water pump as a maintenance procedure - it was operating just fine. That water pump also has England stamped on it.
Over the years my friends and family have purchased Dodge trucks with the Cummins (from 2003 through 2007). I have replaced water pumps on all but one of them. It seems that this era truck has lots of water pump problems. Here is a list each different truck (all but the 2007 are original owners):
2003 Auto, 35,000 miles - water pump failed (leaking, followed by bearing failure), covered by warranty
2003 Manual, under 90,000 miles - water pump failed (leaking and noisy)
2004.5 Manual, 110,000 miles - water pump failed (leaking), 125,000 miles - second one failed (leaking)
2007 Auto, under 90,000 miles - water pump failed (leaking, followed by bearing failure), 120,000 miles - second one failed (leaking)
I also have worked on lots of older Dodges with the Cummins, but have yet to replace a water pump. The only one I have replaced is my own - which had not failed. I am not saying these failures don't occur on older trucks - just that it doesn't seem to be nearly as frequent. I wonder if Cummins changed their source for water pumps in 2003 when this era of truck came out.
I noticed that most of these posts are referring to replaced water pumps and most signatures reflect 2003 through 2007 trucks. Has anyone experienced high mileage on their waters pumps on older trucks (2002 and older)?
I know that I will keep my well-used England water pump with me as a backup since I do not have much faith in the replacement water pump.
