You can only get a SRW with 3:42 rear end, and the other known benefits to having extra payload and stability with a DRW.

I knew about the gear ratio, was wondering about the spring packs and rear axels. Does the extra payload come from having the extra tires with everything else the same?

Just a heads up, you can get a 3500 srw chassis cab with the 3.73 or 4.10 gears if you really want them.

I was wondering the same. They may have gone to coil springs now. My 2013 Ram 2500 has 3 leaf springs. Do the 2013 Ram 3500 DRW have 4 leaf springs? And does the 3500 SRW have the 2500 springs or 3500 DRW springs?

SRW 2500, 2014 + now have rear coil/link suspension

SRW 3500 has 11.5 AAM rear axle and leaf springs. DRW 3500 has 11.8 AAM rear axle with leaf spring suspension.

I heard they reduced the payload slightly on the coil springs.

Is the 11.8 with all ratios or just the 4:10? I heard just the 4:10.

That's a great question but since Ram always drags it's damn feet with their web updates, we'll just have to wait to find out.

Is there any difference between a 3500 SRW and a 3500DRW besides an extra two tires?
The 2015 srw short-bed 3500 doesn't have any helper[overload] springs, and a 2014 3500 srw long bed I saw also is without helper[overload] springs.

I believe it's only 4.10 gears and the Aisin (aluminum cover), unless this has changed for '16 model year and the additional bolts in the case now.

Thanks, I thought that was fact. But who knows about the 16's!

My Son has a 15 Limited LB SRW 4X4 and Aisin. He does not have the Aluminum cover.

I know on the 07/09 trucks the DRW axles had a thick axle housing tubes compared to the SRW 3500's and I would assume the same still.

I was under the impression that all Aisin equipped trucks have the 11.8" axle, but not all 11.8's have the aluminum diff cover.

At least in the '13 model year, all 3.42, 3.73, & 4.10 Aisin equipped DRW pickups had the aluminum differential cover. I'm confident that held true in the '14 MY, but unsure about 2015.

When I went through the ordering process for the 15, the specs showed that the 3:42 DRW had the 11.5 axle, while the 3:73 and the 4:10 had the 11.8. I opted for the 3:73 and do have the larger axle with the finned cover. I also have the airbags with 3 leaf springs (Hotchkiss system). According to the buyers guide, the SRW in any configuration (gas or diesel, manual, 68RFE or Aisin) will have the 11.5 axle and 3:42 rear ends. The DRW will start with the 11.5 and 3:42s, but you can option up to the 11.8 with the 3:73 or 4:10.
