Hi All…
My 2015 Mega Cab is not waiting to start on remote start even when the temps are in the upper 20's. It cranks right away after the gauge sweep just like when it is over 60. I took it back to the dealer and explained to them that the 08 had to be set (with a star scan tool)to wait 30 or 45 seconds after the gauge sweep to allow the grid heater to give some benefit before starting. The tech couldn't find a setting so he contacted STAR tech support and they told him there is no way to set that on the new trucks…
I told my tech that there was something wrong with the idea that no matter how cold it was that the truck would not wait for the grid heater at all and he showed me (an gave me a copy of what STAR sent him) the response… STAR tech told him that if the grid heater were to come on without airflow across it that it would burn out and that the Customer must be confusing it with glow plugs and recommended that the tech explain proper operation of the grid heater with me and explain that is how it is supposed to work. I explained to the tech that as far as I know the grid heater in my truck is no different than the one that was in my first 97 CTD and the other 6 I have owned and the only thing i could think of is some Genius at RAM forgot to write that into the program. No Matter what the reason is I feel that the failure to wait to start on remote start is going to become an issue.
Has anyone else had to deal with this? I tried a search but come up with nothing...
