2015 Ram 2500 - What are these holes in the bed?

Wondering what these holes are for in the rear pillar for the bed.

Any ideas?

looks like its set up for the new plastic bed extender that they have come out with, or the holes on both sides of the rear of the bed?, if so, that is what they are for

They are in the back of the bed on both sides. Could it be for these?

Looks like they have two holes for Rivnuts.

They are not shown as compatible with a 2015 but mopar's site may not be updated yet.

jgillott - do you have any info on the LED bed lighting? That's something I am looking into.

TIA.

The LED lighting is listed on the Ram site now as a new available option for 2016. It has a $100 option list price on the tradesman trucks and I think it is included at some of the other trim levels. I can't get a picture to link from my phone, but you can see the lights in photos at ramtrucks.com

I've got the 5th wheel, gooseneck option on my 2015 3500 crew cab, SRW.
The holes are in the bed on the rear side walls.
Maybe, some sort of easy-lift tailgate option?

Here's the picture, you can see the lights where those holes are. Kind of dumb to have holes in the box when the option isn't there. They could at least have a plastic snap in infill cover the holes.

The upper and lower square holes will be for square plastic inserts that the two mounting screws would go into and expand the back side of the insert to keep them in and the centre hole is for the wiring harness to pass through. I bet there are pigtails behind each tail light that you could connect any light that you want that would come on with the cargo light switch in the cab.
I like all the holes covered because for winter I put a canopy on and having the holes covered and the tailgate sealed keeps the box dust free.
