New Snoking Laramie

Got to finally pull a mountain pass with the trailer today. Walked up CA-58 to Tehachapi at 58 MPH in 4th at 2100 RPM with tons of extra throttle. Quiet and smooth. :-laf:-laf

BTW, these trucks do need a larger fuel tank.

Got 12.25 MPG today on flat ground on Highway 99 in central valley of California

Just arrived Sonoita, Az from Vale, Or yesterday - about 1400 miles. We were loaded HEAVY (27,400 #) pulling our living quarters horse trailer loaded with 2 horses, 3 dogs, 1 cat, 1400#' of hay, etc. Tried 60 mph locked in 5th but found the rpm's foo low and it constantly hunted between 4th and 5th. Boosted the rpm's to 1750 in 5th and found it would hold pretty well only shifting into 4th on moderate hills. The whole trip the AISIN only down shifted to 3rd one time when we were pulling a pretty good grade in traffic with speed down to about 45. I really like the truck! It feels so much more solid than our "08 (225,000 miles). The steering is vastly improved. Even as heavy as we were, the truck did't seem to be woking very hard. Acceleration onto the interstates was no issue and the Cummins/AISIN combination is impressive. Think 3:73 gearing would be an ideal combination but the ability to down shift the transmission seems to work just fine and the 3:42's empty aren't a bad deal. Just need to use the engine/transmission combination the way it is designed to be used! Fuel mileage on winter diesel and as heavy as we were was pretty miserable - averaged a little over 6 mpg.

18" I have 60 in the front. I am running 48 in the rear empty. I plan to put 80 in the rears hitting the road Saturday and may adjust down slightly once I get an actual rear axle weight.

I think your 20's are rated similar to my 3640 at 80 lbs 18". Snoking

I just reduced the pressure in my front and rear tires. I left 60 in the front and 50 in the rear (empty).
Man, what a difference! It was like I bought a new truck! Smooth ride!

That is confusing. The 3rd gen mirrors have the spot in the corner so when up or down they still work the same unlike the 4th ben that work much better in the up position. I did the the 2nd/3rd gen mirror mod to my 98 I always ran them down. Dually is always up.

Congrats on the new truck, we are happy with ours. Great color too. We searched high and low till we found a long bed, wasn't easy.
I also purchased the extended warranty due to all the electronics in these things now, you never know. Enjoy the new ride.

Where did you find the Chrome Bug Guard all of them that I can find here in Chula Juana are either Smoked or Clear Plastic not Chromed or Stainless Steel?
Would you recommend the extended warranty?

I first extended warranty I ever bought was in the early 80's on a VCR player! Never used or needed it. The second was on the new RAM in September 2015. I would just not own one of these new VERY complex trucks without one.

I have to disagree on that one. I had full black leather in my last truck and it showed every speck of dust, dry skin defoliation and doughnut crumb! LOL
I was always wiping down everything. The other thing I didn't like was that it was hotter than Hades in there in the summer.

Ive had and opted for again to have the 2-tone Tan/Brown leather in this truck. Much easier to keep clean and I think it's very "classy" looking.

It would be fine with monotone Deep Cherry Red. With Deep Cherry Red over silver, I again think it would be a color mismatch, just my personal option.

Would have to see them side by side to really compare!

You might be right there. With the silver base accent, likely the black would go better. If you had the Deep Cherry Red over tan base like I've seen, the tan interior would have been great.
With my truck being white, I could go either way but definitely wasn't going black again.
In my search for my truck, there were a ton of black interiors available and only a few with the tan/brown.

And....the black isn't too dark? LOL

I do agree though on the few shade lighter on the brown. No choices there!
