Should the questions be asked,
Who bought extended warrantees ?
Who has used them and/or made out by having them ?
Over the years I have bought but a couple extended warrantees and had never used them. So I don't anymore.
You are correct, no question! The only people who make out with these warranties are the insurance companies who sell them and the few "unlucky" people who actually need them...
That is simply how insurance works, isn't it?
I purchased a Ford factory warranty extension for my 2010 F-150 just as I got to the end of basic coverage by mileage, as I had a feeling... I believe that at that time, I paid about $2700 dollars for factory, bumper to bumper warranty extension, through 7 years or 125,000 miles. My Ford went on to suck up more than $10,000 of warranty repairs during that time!
I'm glad I had the coverage!
If you can absorb the hit, if it happens, there is no question that the odds favor not purchasing the warranty. The problem is that so many of the systems in modern vehicles are simply so expensive that these warranty extensions are like having insurance!
Better to have it than not!
Also, if you never need a repair, you are entitled to the principle back I believe...not a bad deal.
