Did this today, it fit perfect. Only time consuming item was fitting the front replacement bracket, it felt like it never fully seated, but I put 53 gallons of diesel in it and it works :-laf

Nice!!!! I've looked into the Titan's as well....but I'm having trouble turning loose of the coin for the additional 23 gallons of fuel storage. I do not want an in-bed tank, either. Is the advertised 55 gallon about spot on....or a little more??? I *assume* you had 2 gallons in a jug to put in the new tank, then filled up with the remaining 53 gallons???

Any details on the install other than the front bracket issue???

Nice! Been trying to talk the wife into one of these for quite a while. To date, I still don't have one.

SWMbO and I talked about it,,,,she said if I wanted to get one to go ahead, but maybe wait, a little while until we both have learned the new truck. (see what kind of mileage we get with it.)So I am going to look around. I can get a tank from a company here in So. Cal, (Aero Tanks) for almost as much as the Titan Tank costs installed. But I think it's only a Forty Gal.Tank.

An extra 10 gallons or so is nice, and Aero has been around a long time and I'd assume/hope their products are good (no experience), but if I had a choice I'd chose the larger 53 gallons in a New York minute if I was going to swap tanks.

I better look and see if that 40 gallon cell might work under a share bed... After a quick look all I see is a 40 gallon 'aft axle' auxiliary tank.

What 40 gallon tank from Aero are you looking at?

Greg, the install went very smooth. It was very straight forward. There was one connector to the rear filter that was different from my previous trucks and I had to wait until I dropped the tank a little to figure it out. It has a band running underneath of the connector, you just push it in and pull the line off...

I actually started this with about a quarter of a tank. I also had gotten 5 gallons of diesel in a can before I started. After I installed the new tank, I put that five in plus what ended up being about 12 gallons, give or take, from the oem tank.

I then went and filled it up and put 35 gallons in.

As far as the cost versus function, the extra 23 gallons allows me to go round trip un-refuled to our camping spot in Utah. To me that is a big benefit.

Also, my running boards from my 2012 that was bought back fit this truck so I saved money there.

That's a good looking tank.

Did they fix the issue where they rub on the BW transfercase?

I guess so, there is good clearance around everything. Also the DEF tank is between the fuel tank and transfer case.

Thanks. Mind if I ask what your total outlay was for the #7030313 tank???

Titan themselves won't budge on their list price as they want to protect their dealer network. The best price I've found is $1,124.21 shipped from Amazon.

I bought the tank through XDP and used their site wide Diesel10 discount...Then it was drop shipped from the manufacturer. So, that Amazon price is very close.

20yrs. ago, I bought a tank for my 1995 Ford F-250 from Aero tanks. Paid a decent price, I don't remember and I can't find the receipt. I had it installed at a RV repair shop here in Chula Juana. (they didn't know what they were doing) for almost a year I had problems. I took it back to the RV shop 4 times for problems. I called them (Aero Tanks) not only did they fix the problems with the crappy install, they UN-jury rigged the install and my gauges. They only charged me for a fuel pump that needed to be replaced. No Labor. I had not one problem with that tank the rest of the time it was in my truck. I wish I could have swapped it into my new truck(I know it would not work, but it would be a lot cheaper to do that instead of buying a new tank on second thought I am really thinking about it. http://www.aerotanks.com/ .

BillUA,so that run to UT,is how many miles based on pulling your 5th wheel will that tank give you.And this Titan tank also allows you to shop further for better discounts on fuel.So if your fuel app show diesel say 12 cents cheaper down the road you have the ability to go that distance to save.I am also looking into this too. With winds the way they are during the summer month's and pushing against you burning fuel to maintain speed, this extra fuel gives you the margin's to look for fuel farther out than me.I too run to Utah,NM,ID,Oregon during the summer months and at times the wind can be running 25-55 mph cross highway at you. This tank gives you a good safety margin.Good deal BillUA....

fuel gauge works ok

BILLUA, does your fuel gauge work with the new tank in the sense of the range to empty? Did you have to have comp reprogrammed for bigger tank? I am very interested in this tank in the next few years as I had one on an older truck. How far have you gone on one tank?

Thanks Eagle6.7L.

Our run is 195 miles each way. With a stock tank, I would have to stop once and sometimes twice on a round trip. And, it wasn't always where fuel was cheapest.

Of course, that isn't the only run we will be doing, so on the others, it will save us a stop or two.

You are correct about summer winds found in the mountains around here. And, if you want to maintain speed, it really drags down mileage.

Cheers

This is a new truck and I just installed the tank yesterday, so no real world figures yet...

As far as the fuel gauge, it will read full until fuel is burned down into the range of the sensor and then will read normally. But, its relative, so 1/4 tank now will be approx 13 gallons remaining.

I have heard that the EVIC can be updated as to the fuel tank capacity but have not explored that yet.

Cheers

When I was looking at these tanks last year, the installation instructions said that drilling the frame was necassary. Is that still the case?

I'd be happy with just 5 more gal on my 2013. the 31 gal tank is just not quiet enough when you are towing. I ran it very low a few time this past trip. the low fuel light goes on at around 2.5 gal on my ruck as I found out the hard way.... I spoke with titan and they said they had No Plans to make a tank for my truck. i know I would sure pay the grand the tank would cost for that extra 5 gal. The short bed is just too small to add a in bed tank and I don't want to loose the spare tire location.
