I can only assume you're referring to the OEM main tank installed on the vehicle by the manufacturer???Are they DOT. certified? In case of roll over.

Like all certified fuel tanks the rollover protection comes from a check ball deep in the fuel filler.
Bob & Sag.... I'm sure your right... but after going through a lot of rain and pulling into a station, I opened the door and low and behold the top of the first flap has a layer of water on it.... I assume as I pushed the nozzle into the tank, this water was washed down.... so I than purchased the billet cap with a nice tight fitting 0-ring.... It might be OK, but if the darn filter is water contaminated, who is the factory going to blame.... not their engineering... no, me the driver.. I think that what this whole thread is all about....
Tottally agree I don't care for them either but we don't have much choice.No one will design an aftermarket fill neck with the high cost of liability.All the aftermarket cap solutions seem to fill that void without too much liability riskBob & Sag.... I just use the little red plastic thing that came on the truck. It seals pretty well I think.
