Mystery parts found on garage floor!

Can anyone help me out with this? A few days ago, these items appeared on my garage floor – generally just beneath the transmission on my prized 2007.5 Ram 3500 (with 6.7 Cummins and 68RFE trans, two wheel drive). Thus far, there has been no indication of a problem with the truck. By that I mean, none, not a hint. There are no imbedded codes, no obvious malfunctions; no additional mystery parts have appeared. Other information – the truck has 120,000 miles on the odometer and is totally stock. Its use has been mostly for RV towing (12K fifth wheel). There is no other known source for the mystery parts other than the Ram truck. Thanks, Bill D. in SoCal

Bill,

I can report with authority that is the horn cradle buffer mount spring and its saddle. These horns are so powerful they need a shock mount. And by the color, its the high note horn.

Its a clutch spring out of a Ford Model T, don't your remember back that far..... and it looks like the spring retainer, along with the spring...

CGroyle - Thanks for the horn suggestion. Thus far I have not even been able to locate my horn assembly. Mine is a well packed Laramie under the hood. Going back to that lead today. jelag (Jim) - haven not had any old fords in generations. The spring was clean, with a light coating of clear grease (suggesting to me that it was never mounted exposed to the elements on the underside). The alleged retainer parts are black plastic, also clean. None of the parts have numbers or casting marks. Thanks again, Bill D.

That retainer to the right looks really familiar to me, but can not place it. I work on so much crap it could resemble something out of a washing machine (had mine all apart last weekend for a lower end bearing roll) .....but seriously I have seen that somewhere before.....

I found a broken part that looks very similar. It was in my wife's sewing machine!

Mystery solved! After all this time, we have a definitive answer. The spring and plastic retainer have absolutely nothing to do with Ram truck. In the garage rafter space, I stored several pairs of snow skis. The parts popped out of a ski toe binding - Marker brand... This past summer has been a scorcher. Daily temps climb well over 100 degrees. Whoda thought? Thanks again to all who jumped in to help. Bill D. in sweltering Lake Elsinore, CA

Wow. Good solve! I have had similar items come out of a Ford 6.4 power stroke oil pan drain plug on an oil change.
