Most of the 2007-12 emissions problems were with the earlier years of that range. Many were fixed by software changes. I find that the 2013 towing is easier, more weight capacity, more stability.

The 13 and up have way less issue with the short trips like the 07-12's. 35 mph seemed to be the safe avg from my experience,30 and below was bad

Correct me if I'm wrong. But could this be due to fuel dilution of oil that was fixed in the 2013+ model years?

Small side trip...

In what years are the wheels interchangeable? I was thinking of putting winter tires on the stock wheels and after Market wheels for summer. I would like the new wheels to work on next truck too...

Are you asking about the 1500 Ram in your signature? If so these will not fit any 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck! The bolt pattern is different on the 1/2 ton trucks they have 5 mounting studs and the 3/4, 1 ton trucks use eight mounting studs for the rims and tires.

You can do what I have done with my 2008! I have the original 17" rims and Michelin tires for winter use and purchased aftermarket rims and tires for my summer towing needs.

I believe that the newer trucks, say from 2013.5 and up are using 18" /20" tires and wheels for the SRW and still offer 17" on the DRW trucks. So this is another change that may not allow you to switch them between model year trucks of an earlier period.

This is correct. Except a 1500 4WD will likely have 6 lug bolts. And 2013 trucks were available with both 16 inch and 17 inch rims. No 18 inch or 20 in rims were available in 2013 to my knowledge. I bought some 18 inch rims from Ebay (from a 2014) and there is plenty of room in the wheel well for those. Ram hasn't changed their bolt configuration on HD in a long time. Maybe never?

The 3500's got the new frame in 2013 and 18 or 20 inch wheels I believe. The 2500 in 2013 was more similar to the earlier 4th gens.

Thanks. I was thinking of my next truck. My 1500 has the stupid 20" wheels that there are only banana skins available for.

There is a wide variety of 20" tires available from tall to small. 17" tires are old technology and less than adequate in SRW configurations.

That's good news. The stock Goodyear tires never wore out. They all failed. 3 sets. Nothing else was available. Now I have Goodrich and they are wearing much better. I really missed the 10 ply Michelins I had on my E250 Quigley 4x4 conversion. Too bad the Windsor V8 was so lame.
