Coming up on the first oil/filter change, Oil is @ 62% life Being in Mich, weather can be a PIA for driveway truck work some months. Was wondering what is the mileage, or oil per percentage life that I can go over the 6,000 miles? Thanks

If you are a low mileage driver, you will hit the 6 months before you hit the 15K.

NOTE:
• Under no circumstances should oil change intervals
exceed 15,000 miles (24,000 km) or six months or
500 Hours, whichever comes first.

I notice your join date for this forum is 5/31/16.

If you took delivery of your truck last summer, you are due for an oil/filter change. Did the dealer inform you of any free oil changes during the first 2 years of ownership? That used to be part of the manufacturer warranty. You might call the service dept and give them your VIN to see if you have any free oil changes?

Or did you buy used?

New 215 hours run/13 hours idle. No they have a an oil change franchise next to the dealer ship gave me a plastic discount card. I think I will call my sales guy and ask.

I don't usually like to stretch my first oil out that far. I consider that the,"break-in" oil. Time for an oil/filter change.

FYI, The Carquest 96332 is the Baldwin BD7317 Dual Flow oil filter. Got mine for under $10. Google these Dual Flow filter benefits, and you'll switch, too. These actually catch most of the suspended soot in the oil.

Your attempt at peddling the Carquest filters is getting very annoying. I will never go into a Carquest again. Thanks

Your condescending comments are getting annoying, cupcake. I don't work for Carquest, nor do I have any friends who work there. From what I've read, it's a DAMN good filter, for a DAMN good price. Just trying to help out grow Cummins owners, ma'am. Do some ****ing reading about these dual flow BALDWIN filters before being an ******* next time.

No thanks. You copied and pasted the same exact thing in 10 different threads. You aren't fooling anyone. Sorry buttercup. You're making yourself look like a fool.

P.S. If I wanted a Baldwin I would buy a Baldwin. Not a rebranded Car quest. But, I think I'll stick with the Cummins recommended Stratapore.

If under warranty use of Fleetguard/Mopar filters is HIGHLY advisable. Denial of warranty is possible. Besides they are top quality.

Bingo. Plus When you look up those filters on the Baldwin site, the numbers dont even cross reference. They list some Cummins engines but not our B series that I found under the dual flow section.

I have been using fleetguard now for over 15 years and Cummins owns fleetguard and cummins engines come with that filter on its engines. So that said in the 20 year or more ownership and at most, 2 oil/filter changes a year, the difference in cash outlay from Wally World cheapy filter to Fleetguard Stanapore over that timeframe won't be $200 so in context, a 15 to 20 thousand dollar engine repair or replacement cost to me, this is a no brainer, so why not stay top shelf and never look back!

I suspect mopar doesn't have a stratapore equivalent. I think that MO 285 that is for both 5.9 & 6.7 is not the stratapore equivalent.

Search my report on oil changes listed as "EASY! 2013 up oil change"

But skip the part where you take off the turbo intake, and just go thru the fender well :) . Great thread by TooTall going thru the fender well. I have changed that oil filter both ways, and would NEVER go back to taking engine parts off to change that filter from above after going thru the fender well.
