Greg, tuned up 30K on my truck on Christmas Eve! Looks like I got lots more miles of trouble free towing!!!

Congrats on your accomplishment, getting to 200K with your truck without an accident is something to be envied!

Yes indeed !!!!

If I hadn't got hit in the 2013 RAM 3500 in New Holland Blue.....I'd be at about 242k miles, all things being the same.

Sending this post to a friend who's got a finger on the trigger guard. Budget wise he's looking 2500, but I'm trying to convince him to do a 3500 SRW Asian. He's going to pull a 5er camper eventually.

He really needs to seriously and carefully consider payload and pin weights before making his selection.

Indeed, he needs to do his due diligence, and I think he will. My opinion is, and how I considered my 04, was to just go as bulletproof as possible for the money, to handle almost any situation you may want to tackle.
The cost difference between a 2500 and hi GVW 3500 really isn't too much, all things like trim being equal.

Awesome to hear about your truck, that is exactly what we should be able to expect from these trucks! People that use them as they were designed should expect to see long years of service. People that use them as grocery getters are the ones having the problems.

This is so true! This is the main issue at my job, since the house to house drive cycle soots things up quick. Also a friend who has a brand F 6.4 is always spotted in town looking like a skywriter with a 4 car length trail of white coming off him.

Agreed, but until sales people are trained and held accountable by Chrysler about this, it will continue to be an issue. Most folks who enter the dealership don't understand the consequences involved in using a work truck for pleasure driving.

AMEN . Half of the People see a Dually and think well I know a 2500 can pull it. I have seen it done we will be OK .Being Over Loaded .Until they get into a accident and the first thing they do is run the truck /n trailer over a scale .And then they give you the Bad News Sorry you were Over weight so its your Fault .

All the time... when serious injuries of fatalities.... When property damage occurs any party can demand crash investigation, That means your TT will be impounded until the investigation is finish or completed in worst case scenario's its weeks into months.

If the investigator knows what to look for they will take micro-wrenches to all lugs to check TQ , Brake conditions both electrical and Hydraulic, tire PSI tire condition, Lights, GVW , suspension and License. The 1st thing the law will ask did you do a legal pre-trip inspection, weather its commercial or recreational they are required in many States. Liability of criminal Charges VS civil liability are entirely different matters.

What made you decide to go with factory batteries? Was it because the stockers lasted so long? Just wondering as every year a different battery seems to get better reviews than others and i have yet to find a consensus on what the best battery is.

If there was a best brand the other brands would disappear....

On Wednesday, May 31st, the ol' Radio Flyer hit the Quarter Million Mile (250k) mark. I was hauling a load of new GatorMade trailers to the retail store in Marietta, GA. Total trailer weight based on MSO's totaled 15,550 lbs. On top was an 18+2 14k equipment trailer, then a 20+5 single tandem gooseneck trailer, all stacked on a 20+5 22k pintle trailer. PLENTY of pin weight on the ol' Class V hitch!!!!

Dang! That's 50K in just a little over 5 months, your new tires are getting a work out. How are they doing?

The Bridgestones are doing great. When I rolled in from yet another haul on Friday, it was time for another oil change, fuel filters, and tire rotation. I got home around 8:15 pm and at least knocked out the oil change (nothing like pulling the oil drain plug after the engine has been going for about 8 hours) :-laf This morning....I'll knock out the fuel filters and tire rotation. Upon checking my records, it looks the RD500 HD's have 43,561 miles on'em. Extremely pleased with them.......

How is the mileage on your tires with that much weight?
The OEM LT235/80R17 General Ameri*Trac TR's lasted 79,491 miles.
The General Grabber HTS's lasted 61,554 miles (they were only rated at 45k warranty in LT sizes).
The LT245/75R17 Firestone Transforce H/T's lasted 66,976 miles. Could have went longer, but DOT requirements stipulate steer tires can be no less than 4/32nds.
The RD 500 HD's are at 43,561 miles.....and look great.
