Load Trail Gooseneck Dump Time.

I probably missed it but what do you deliver to small home sites like that? Your ground up manure? City folk takin a stab at the rural life?

I hauled this load on Easter Sunday and was all proud of myself because no way would DOT be working. Wrong! Dang local guy passed me on the freeway outside Holbrook on his way to lunch I don't want to ever get stopped because if push come to shove I am not legal with my truck at 16k and trailer at 10k. I need 26k on the truck and 10,001 on the trailer for a huge increase in fees.

Note how flat the load is, I mashed it down with the loader bucket to get more on. The trailer (GN) is maxed out so I left some room at the back and fill the front as much as I can.

Yes, logs, wood, cinders or manure. Even the ones with a lot of acreage, they think it is cool to line their 9' driveway with rocks or railroad ties and want my 8'6" trailer in the back 40, and whatever you do don't cut any trees down


PS: I had this one customer that ordered 7 yards of Alpaca Poop and wanted me to unload it in her garden with a 2' walk in gate. She assumed it was bagged:-laf I thought I was going to have to haul back home....

We don't just always haul poop We had a good month so we finished up our street with 2 loads of gravel. It is non-county maintained so we keep it up, it's only 1/4 mile. The loader operator is good, we had exactly 5 ton on this load, I had 5.3 ton.

Hauled my Bobcat this week and actually enjoyed the haul. I will need to drop one more link next time, it is just a little low on the rear yet, but big difference in feel. Hauled 12 loads apiece this week and I averaged 12.2 MPG while the 'ole 91 averaged 13.1, it is a little lighter empty and loaded. I put 9 buckets on it and 11 on me. I drive a little faster and my trailer is more wind resistant.

I was busy yesterday Usually I can only grind an hour or two before the wind changes and I have to stop. The wind was at my back all day so I ground about 230 yards of raw material, which gives me about 160 yards of finished material.

My son borrowed my grader today, personal use so free gratis, lol I used a tape on the front of the trailer when he started the truck, I wanted to watch/measure it automatic level, it was cool It went up 1/2"

Looking into a Goose neck Dump of our own, any advice? Have looked at PJ & Big tex. Not really excited about Big tex after owning a Goose neck flat from them.

Any updates? If you are still looking, XB Trailer Sales in Great Falls has a nice Lamar 83"x14' w/7 gage one piece floor and a heavy duty bed with "Ridged Rails" looks awesome. My brother wanted me to find him a 102"x24' Gooseneck tilt deck so that's where I found him one, then found the dump. He called them Monday, asked them to deliver it to Billings and he picked it up at 4:00 PM that day, seems like a good outfit to deal with.

Been busy this summer so no truck pulls:{ Cut, split, sold and delivered 11 cord of wood this summer. For those of you that have never done this, here is how much work it is

Depending on how green/dry the logs are, a cord of wood will weigh from 3 to 4 thousand pounds, you handle a cord 4 times or using the minimum weight 12000 k or 6 ton. 11 cord x 6 ton is 66 ton or three semi loads of weight That doesn't count cutting the logs into chunks..... not complaining at all, just happy I am healthy and can still do it!

Even after dad started it on a cold morning to warm up, got sidetracked and came back 45 minutes later to find it had creeped into the pond :-laf. Luckily the engine being in the front (and air cleaner being above that) kept it from sucking water. But it was close to happening.

Thanks JR, yes I have had to chase mine a few times It is an MTC 2400, an earlier model than the 2410. They are not a quick as a skidsteer but way safer, more stable and not so destructive to the ground.

Blew the soot out of the ol' Ford today. I hauled a load of trash to the land fill for my son then stopped at the cinder pit and picked up 10 yards. I was a little rusty with the two gear boxes I try to keep some on hand for weekend deliveries when the pit is closed. I try to use the cinder haul as a back haul to get home, I can compete with a big truck that way. It's hard with a small truck to compete unless they just want a few yards, those are the customers I try to serve. If they need/want a large volume I have them call the big trucks.

It is hard for a picture to show how steep a grade is but this one is about 10% I think and one reason why my tires melt off With my '01, bumper pull dump and a cord of wood (about 15.5k, small load) in 3rd gear, 55-58 psi exhaust brake, 32 mph and 2600 rpm I made it to the bottom. This was a fresh blade job or it would require 2nd gear and brakes all the way due to the washboard road. You can't use the exhaust brake when it is rough or you lock up and go sideways:-laf

About 20 years ago I hauled my Ford dually down this hill with my '91 D-250 and all I could think of was, jeeze, I hope my trailer brake wire don't somehow loose it's connection:-laf

My driver had a wreck with the right side tires and the gate hinge into the log/poop yard, so we had to buy 2 new tires. The trailer is 11 months old and tires were at 9-10/32's of 13. The new ones are at 12/32's, all steel 14 ply Samson's, $180 each out the door. I paired them up on the rear axle. They were selling the Mastertrack, same spec's, but said they were not any good. They don't have a track record on these yet, so we will see.

Well, that didn't last long, (my driver, lol) says the new tires make the trailer pull hard/rough. So I am going to install the new spares from both trailers on her trailer and install the new tires on my trailer and see what is going on. If I think they are rough I won't buy anymore all steel tires. I hate to let new spares sit on the spare rack and sun rot anyway, I would rather have some used ones there.

What ply are your tires on the front axle?

I noticed a rougher ride when empty/light when I went to the Sailuns but attributed it to the higher 14 ply rating and subsequent air pressure. When I first got them I had to do a bobtail run of over 500 miles to pick up some combine parts for my cousin. I had them aired to Max psi, I thought I was going to rupture my spleen on the way there :-laf Given they are an LT tire I now air down for lighter loads to help with the ride. No problems loaded heavy though.
