Uconnect 8.4 & 8.4an update - 17.11.07

Found this on this site http://www.ramforum.com/f51/uconnect_8_4_8_4an_update_-_17_11_07_a-100887/ . Looks like it is also supposed to be for our trucks. Anyone here get an OTA update message yet? I checked the UConnect firmware site and it still show me at the last 16.13.?? as the latest. Wondering if an active UConnect script is necessary? NUMBER: 08-028-17

I called Uconnect about this. The 17.11.07 update is going to be sent automatically to your truck. You no longer have to download to thumb drive etc... I called because I wanted to update my GPS to the latest map. They said you can't until the send out the new update which should happen very soon? I checked my radio yesterday and it's still on the old update.

downloaded the update from the Uconnect website to USB and installed. No issues, works fine.

I followed these last bit of instructions from the SB after the install was complete, I don't know if it made a difference...but all my preset and settings were retained after the update...I performed this when the install was complete and the message came up asking if I wanted to re-install the software:

11. Press “No” and turn the vehicle off. Open and close the driver’s door and let the Bus go to
sleep.
NOTE: Make sure to leave ignition off, DO NOT press the brake and DO NOT reopen any
doors so the modules will go to sleep.
12. Cycle the ignition on, then back off one more time. Open and close the driver’s door and let
the Bus go to sleep. This will complete the radio update.
13. Remove the USB flash drive. "

Well, being that you have 16 model year, you already had apple car play and android auto, so us folks with 13 and 14 model year trucks may see more differences, if they really are giving the older vehicles that functionality now.

I have a 16 model year that I bought in September of 2016 and it doesn't have apple car play. at what point did they start putting that in the vehicles? I have a 2016 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel Laramie with lots of bell and whistles and I would think I would see the apple car play somewhere in the system. haven't don't the update yet that I know of. my wife had the truck for a week and she did say an OTA update was displayed at one point and I'm not sure if she did it correctly or not. we don't have sprint coverage in the area we live at least very good coverage. so I'm wondering if the update didn't take. I'll have to try it when I get home and see if I can download and install it.

Yup, you go to the here.com page and in big red type is a YOU MUST HAVE RECEIVED THE 17.0.07 update BEFORE YOU INSTALL THIS MAP UPDATE. I got my OTA update about a month or so ago and just ordered my map update yesterday. I'm wondering what the build date (how old) is going to be on what is advertised as a 2017 Map Update.

I'm still waiting for the firmware update but yes I wonder how stale the map will be.

OK, I am part way through the new map install, and it was not that easy getting to this step.

So here is a little guidance if you want it. I assume you are on 17.11.07 first.

1. Write down you vin number.
2. Have the case the USB card comes in, the product SN is above where the USB drive is clipped in the case.
3. Bring up www.navigation.com/RA3RA4ACTIVATE on your home computer.
4. Go to the Truck and tn in run without starting. Put the USB drive in the port. WAIT for the message on the screen to come up asking if you would like to proceed? STOP!!!! Record the Requester Code from this screen. I took a picture. Do not yet press yes.
5. Go to the computer and fill out the info that it asked for(the request code is the one that you just got in step 4) and wait for the email with your activation code.
6. Back the truck with the activate code. Press yes , and in the next screen enter activate code without the dashes.
7. Now the wait begins. When it ends follow the instructions carefully about when to remove the USB drive, door opening and closing etc.

HA I guess that's a bit better than the 2013/14 that came with our trucks.

Thanks a lot for posting the info above!!! I was about to call you and see if you had tried to install yet. Received mine a couple days ago so I will Man up and give it a try.

8.4" screen, no worrying about a druggie doing a smash and grab of a portable GPS to sell for 10-20 bucks and another fix. Voice navigation. Voice search for many things and then navigate to them. I did not really want the RAM Nav, as we had nice Garmin units already. The in stock truck we bought had it and we now like it. SnoKing

You should be able to go into setting/system information and see software version to check. SnoKing

I just checked mine. 17.09.01. Should I worry about upgrade? If so, do I just wait for the push?
