Well it held off, no snow here until last Saturday night....then 6-8" fell overnight. Now another one today..

9 degrees at the house this morning, supposed to be 40 degrees tonight....6-8" of snow again today, then finishing as rain.....below zero tomorrow night.

The snow will be just like cement.....I can't wait.....

As predicted, everything frozen solid. Can’t get into the Yukon, all doors frozen shut. Will have to use remote start and let it run for an hour so I can get in. I need it tomorrow..

OK, call me short sighted and silly, but while working in ND (Watford City) my little Ram Longhorn 1/2 ton had no shelter and after the first episode of frozen everything I sourced a piece of aluminum to place on the passenger floor. Put a 1500 watt ceramic heater on it and turned it on low and closed the door on the extension cord.

No more snow/iced windows, no frozen doors, cab all toasty and over 4 winters zero problems. While finishing that last cup of coffee I did hit the remote start and let it run thru one 15 minute cycle when the temps dropped into the sub -20 range just so the engine and all were ready to work.

We had a central TX white Christmas this morning. 33 degrees plus some humidity and a light breeze......everything coated in frost. Perfect. The sun is up and it is gone, double perfect. Happy holidays everyone!

This is Christmas day. Just a might cold. The DW and I were up there for approx. 7 Months in the 5ver and saw a low of -1 do not remember the wind chill. It seems the wind is always blowing in that part of the Country. What were we doing there ?, the Daughter is married to a SSGT stationed at the God fore saken place called Minot AFB.

We dropped from ~38 last evening with rain to 16 this morning with a little snow. The layer of ice is quite fun. But even better, I parked my '07 on a hill by our barn with the parking brake on...........That should thaw out around Easter probably.

the God fore saken place called Minot

My daughter and son-in-law live in Minot (he works in the oil fields). I saw this post and sent a message to them asking how the weather was. Her reply: "not too bad".

I've not had the privilege of visiting Minot yet. Plans are to go late spring or early summer (I'm told that's like August ).

Here in southern CT we got just about an inch of the white stuff sometime between 5:30 am and 8-ish. Just enough to make it pretty without creating a mess on the roads. Currently in the upper 30's heading to 40°.

Must have been looking out the window :-laf. I personally like it in AZ. right now>>>>>> heading to 70 today. Come mid to late April we will be out of here as the temps start climbing around then. One of the benefits of retirement. When you go especially if driving check the weather there as it rained quite often during the Spring/Summer and hailed 3/4 to 1" size once. Hail seems to be a common occurance in the mid to Northern section of ND.

At least it’s a cold snow which trust me is far better than snow at 30 degrees or so...

So gang, I need your opinion and I didn't want to start another thread since most of the northeast gang is already involved in this one. Let's just hypothetically say that I would need to make an unexpected trip (approx 800 miles round trip) to upstate NY for a couple of days. Forecast is for teens to maybe 20 for a high and lows at or below zero. Some slight snow chances, but I think that I will be out of there before the next big round. I have 2 choices in vehicles to use....

Option 1: Decent tires, questionable cab heat at best, bed opens

Option 2: Totally bald tires, good heat, bed frozen shut to the tonneau cover so I either have to try and open it or haul our gear in the cab.

Which one would you choose? I'm leaning toward option 1 and just bring extra coats......

Is Option 2 4WD??? I don't know about Upstate NY but they are calling for a HIGH of -2 to 0 here Weds, and possibly Thursday. I'd go for the decent heater....

Yes.... Both are 4x4. I was going to buy tires tomorrow believe it or not, but I think I have to hit the road early.

Just the tailgate frozen shut??? Hair dryer will thaw it out....

4WD will compensate for crappy tires.....I've done it....

I'd still go with the one with good heat, it's better to be able to turn it down rather than wish you could turn it up....

The bed I can open in the morning with a hot bucket of water. I just have top make sure to dry it off or it will freeze again.

I'd get up an hour early and do some tire swapping. No heat is serious, bald tires on slick/snowy roads can be very unsafe.

If your route is anywhere near the Lake be careful J. Reports of 3+" per hour were reported earlier this morning just north of me with current totals over 18" and counting. Fortunately we got spared and only have about 6" at this time. Someone at breakfast this morning said Buffalo got socked hard so it doesn't sound like it's a localized squall by any means.
